Is it normal for seller to ask for buyer to leave feedback first?

Hi
Normally, who gives feedback first: seller or buyer?
Already paid seller for item and seller sends email to say he has shipped and that he will leave feedback only after I have left my feedback.
Isn't it normal, the seller to leave his feedback first for the buyer since buyer has already paid first and has done his part. The seller shouldn't wait until buyer receives item and then wait for buyer to leave his feedback before seller leaves his. Looks like the seller is trying to cover himself in case the buyer leaves bad feedback
What do you think?

You are under no obligation to leave feedback - it is voluntary.
Do not feel pressured.
Leave feedback only if you are happy and you want to.It's BOUGHT (to Buy), not BROUGHT (to bring) AND you cannot be frauded, only DEfrauded.
Please do not buy animals from a pet store. Visit your local sanctuary or centre and give a good home to an unloved or abandoned animal.0 -
Your part isn't over yet; you haven't received the item. How can the transaction be over?
Sellers are putting themselves at risk of getting a hasty neg if they leave a positive for payment.
Ebay recommend that the buyer leaves feedback when they are satisfied with their item.My TV is broken!
Edit: refunded £515 for TV 1.5 years out of warranty - thank you Sale of Goods Act! :j0 -
It;s quite common for sellers to expect this, once you HAVE received the item, of course. Although you shouldn't feel pressured, if you are happy with the transaction then the seller will want you to leave feedback first to indicate that the item is received and you are content. From the seller's perspective until you say that you are happy, they may be worried that you will make a claim against them for a faulty or not-received item.0

I bought something small on the 13th October. I emailed the seller on Saturday just gone, as the item hadn't arrived. Seller told me he'd sent it first class in the week, but was unable to tell me which day of the week. The next day, he sent me an email asking me to leave him feedback, even though I do not have the item and he hasn't actually sorted out the issue! Sent him a message today to say that the item still hasn't arrived and that I would like either a refund or a replacement sent. We're talking 90p here, but it's the principle of the thing. I can't believe he asked me to leave him feedback knowing I haven't received the item!In a rut? Can't get out? Don't know why?
It's time to make that change.

Although I'm only a buyer, I tend to side with the sellers because even though "buyer leaves first" tends to stop people leaving feedback for bad sellers for fear of a retaliatory, the damage negs do to sellers greatly outweighs that which it does to buyers.0 -
Whenever I sell something I send an email along the lines of, Your item has been posted, please could I ask you to leave me feedback once it arrives with you so I know you have received it, then I can do the same for you
This is generally because I would rather they contact me to say they are unhappy with something or that the item hasn't arrived etc etc than they take it out on me through my feedback instead....if you see what I mean
If I had already left feedback they may just leave bad feedback as there is no come back on them from me then, I've got almost 700 100% positive feedback so I think it may be working lolMy first ever Ebay Challenge. So far after fees etc for 2007 - £635.72 :T0 -
I always expect to receive feedback from the buyer first. They can hold you over a barrel about something trivial if they don't. On a similar note if I'm buying I always leave feedback first.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040

There is a standard feedback message a seller can send from 'My eBay'. As a seller if I haven't received any feedback after a couple of days of the buyer receiving it I always send the email. Horses for courses I say...0
