e-fax
Lets you create a fax on the pc and send it over the internet. Also allows people to send a fax to your computer! tis pretty sweet. I think you can receive for free (as a trial)[FONT=Arial, Helvetica, sans-serif]"The internet is a great way to get on the net."

I've used Winfax software to send and receive faxes directly from my PC's modem, there are probably several other software packages available. There's also a fax capability in MS Office.
If you only wish to send the occasional fax online, there's a free faxing facility available here0 -
If you are using Windows XP, you already have a fax program in your Accessories folder. I have recently upgraded to Vista Home Premium and was very surprised to find that they have removed it from this version.0

Does anyone know if you can send the fax over ADSL as opposed to dial-up?:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I'm not. Faxing is an ancient method of communication!
Ancient technology true but still in heavy use in many companies, so I would have been surprised (don't have Vista yet). I work from home and many companies I deal with tend to communicate drawings etc by fax rather than email. Especially handy for minor handwritten corrections and sketches etc."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

No, not directly, unless it's through your pc using one of the e-fax services. ADSL is a completely different data system than sending data over the analogue telephone network."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

Thanks for that. I thought that was the case, but it's nice to have it confirmed.:wall: Flagellation, necrophilia and bestiality - Am I flogging a dead horse? :wall:

I'm using Vista now but if I remember rightly - in XP, go to Start, Programs, Accessories, Communications, and you will see 2 fax references, there is Fax Console and the other one I can't remember exact name.
You can send a one-page quick fax by using the Send a Fax facility. ALternatively, you can fax anything you would normally print out by going to the print option within the program you are using (e.g. Word) and choose print to fax. The fax program will automatically open. The way it works is it adds a fax "driver" to your printer options like if you had added another printer to your system.
I really miss this facility and have had to buy a seperate fax program. I believe Vista Business still has a fax facility but none of the Home versions does.
Hope this helps.0
