Eon cancellation charge for FixOnline 3 question

I'm considering moving to Eon and I've been looking at the following two tariffs-

FixOnline 3
SaveOnline

FixOnline is about £43 cheaper per year and there is a cancellation charge of £30 if I move from this plan before December 2010.
FixOnline 3 discount guaranteed until 1 December 2010 and a contract cancellation fee of £30 may apply if you move from this plan before the end date.

Does this charge apply if I stay with Eon? For example can I sign up for FixOnline 3 and then move to SaveOnline (or another Eon tariff) at a later date (before Dec 2010) without penalty?

If so, if I switch to an Eon tariff that doesn't have a cancellation charge and then switch provider before December 2010, will the £30 charge from the original tariff I was on be charged at this point?

Thanks

  • Not sure about the second point but you can switch tariffs within Eon at no cost.

    Hi charlie12,

Nice and easy response for you here. The cancellation fee of £30 on FixOnline version 3 is only applicable to customers who change supplier.

If you changed tariff within E.ON the charge wouldn’t apply. Also, if you change tariff to one without a cancellation fee, we won’t apply it retrospectively if you leave us and join another supplier.

    Thanks Brian :)

I have one more question. I understand that there are no discounts on the final bill. Does this only apply when moving to another supplier, or is there a "final" bill produced prior to switching to another tariff within E.ON?

    No problem Charlie,

That’s right no discount is applied on your final bill when you change supplier.

Bills aren’t produced on tariff changes, so changing tariff won’t affect your discounts, well apart from the discount probably being a different amount on the new tariff you choose.

I've been on the FixOnline 3 tariff since September 2009 and I would now like to switch to SaveOnline 3.

According to Brian's post on 14/9/2009, I will not be charged the cancellation fee of £30 as I am changing tariff within E.ON. This was one of the reasons I decided to move to E.ON from my previous supplier.

As it's been a while, please can someone from E.ON confirm that I will not be charged a fee before I go ahead and switch.

    Thanks
  • I would also like to know the answer to this exact question, if there is an E.ON company representative about?
  • Also: would I get a cancellation fee if I switch my relative's package from E.ON FixOnline Electricity 4 to E.ON SaveOnline 3 Electricity ??

    Hi charlie12,

Since Brian's post last year, we must advise you that if you decide to change tariff/supplier before the end date you may be charged the cancellation fee.

I can see you have quoted the T&C's that show this.

It does depend on the circumstances at the time.

I'm sorry I can't be more specific on this, but just be aware that the charge could apply.

I changed from FixOnline 3 to FixOnline 8 earlier this year and wasn't charged the £30.
