Does your SURNAME make a difference to winning competitions ??

Something that I have always wondered is how they "choose" a winner.
Does your surname have anything to do with it do you think, not that you could do much about it !!
What I am trying to ask is, if your surname began with an A/C/H etc would you stand more of a chance theoretically than a W/X/Y/Z.
Just a thought. Or does it tend to be computer generated ??
It would be really interesting if anyone knew who they picked winner, please ?
Good luck to anyone currently entering any comps by the way

Now mine's double barreled & I wondered if this prevented me from winning, so unless it's for hard cash or a holiday I've started to split my name up & use which ever one I fancy0

its luck, your name makes no difference, most companies on the larger comps have automated systems which pick out winners.
My name begins with a Q, and ive won some nice bits, but i have to do a lot of comps to get some sort of return.
Im sure this question was asked a few weeks back and the response was again its just pure luck if u win or not, unless u r entering a skill contest ie tiebreakers, jingles etc xxxx#JusticeForGrenfell0 -
I think I'm at a disadvantage because my surname is Smith and I live in an area where there are billions of others. My name's not exactly going to stand out! Thinking about changing it by deed poll to SausageThanks to everyone who posts comps, I love winning prizes big and small
