I have just found this site with a recipe for making homemade crisps in the microwave.
Anyone tried making anything similar in theirs?

I made some about 3 years ago, they were brilliant.
What I did was:
- sliced the spuds thinly, rinsed them
- laid down a piece of kitchen paper on a plate, laid the potato slices out on that, covered them with another piece of kitchen paper
- microwaved them at full power, kept checking them every minute or so
- turned them when I felt it was about the right time and microwaved them again.
I also tried them by sprinkling chilli powder on the potato slices before I started. Easy, tasty, it worked.
I'll try that recipe version at some future point. Just bookmarked it.0 -

Yep, I think I will give them a go tomorrow.
I have some of the Puszta mixed spice/herbs from Lidl so I shall sprinkle some of that on and see what that is like.
For those who haven't tried Puszta, give it a go, it is brilliant sprinkled on chicken before either grilling or oven roasting.0 -
i'll have a go at these this weekend.0

Have tried before, but weren't that tasty even with things sprinkled on
When I was foolish with money I bought a microwave crisp stand from Betterware - still have it but haven't tried for years. What potato's do you use?

Ha, this is great, I'm bookmarking this thread - I just ordered my first ever microwave from amazon, with the vouchers I got for the qype reviews, so I need to know the basics. Thanks all!2023: the year I get to buy a car0

These look great - will have to give them a go.
I make HM Tortilla chips (it's a Slimming World thing - hope it's OK to post it on here)
You use sheets of dried lasagne that you soften first in a pan of boiling water and then cut them into rough triangles. Sprinkle whatever you've got on them as the suggestions here - I use the odds and ends out of the Schwartz packets fo making your own wedges and then put them on a baking tray in a hot over for a couple of minutes weither side.
I was amazed at these and they are soooo moreish that I make a whole box worth at a time and (try) to keep them in an airtight tinAnywhere is within walking distance - if you have the time!!0 -
They should be a lot healthier than shop bought crisps, if it works, because there is no fat used.
I'll have a go, thanks.Liverpool is one of the wonders of Britain,

I bought one of these too - I've only used it a few times but it worked well.
You've reminded me to rescue it from the back of the cupboard and give it another try!Mortgage Free as of 03/07/2017 :beer:0 -
