My dh loves pies/pasties.
There is a recipe in the current edition of family Circle for cornish pasties.
The recipe from what I am reading suggests the filling, including the meat goes in raw.
The pasties only cook for 40 mins so I dunno if the meat & veg would be cooked.
Anyone on here an expert pasty baker (also what are your recipes, any pasty filling would be fine!)
thank you!

Yep, raw is fine - just remember that everything should be chopped quite small. Personally I think that lightly browning the meat helps with flavour, and I usually crumble a stock cube over the dry mix.
Although the originals are just mince, onion, turnip and taters I often add bits off chopped carrot and parsnip in too. I cook the filling in the slow cooker first then transfer it into a dish to make a pie or pasty. Dont forget to make double so you can make pasties quick again another day and keep any of the sauce from the filling to have as a soup.2008 Comping ChallengeWon so far - £3010 Needed - £230Debt free since Oct 20040
