Using the dishwasher to cook

Options
Hi to everyone

This is my very first post and although I have been lurking in the background I was a bit apprehensive on posting!

Anyhow my little contribution to this thread is how to cook a whole salmon if you have not got a huge fish kettle or very large cooker.

Last Xmas I decided to cook a whole salmon for the family, the problem was that I wanted to present it with head & tail on but did not have anything that would take the legnth of the salmon, so...............

I salt & peppered it, squeezed lemon onto it and some dabs of butter, foiled it twice, ensuring the ends were well sealed, and then put it in the dishwasher on number one (hottest), it came out perfect and looked beautifully presented when I placed it on the dinner table.:T and received compliments as well!

LOL - love it... which appliance would you recommend for crispy duck?
  • Blimey, I thought this was going to be a joke. Still I'm not sure I'd try it. Did any of the water get under the foil and into contact with the fish?

    10/10 for ingenuity though!
SIMPLE SIMON - Met a pie man going to the fair. Said Simple Simon to the pie man, "What have you got there?" Said the pie man unto Simon, "Pies, you simpleton!"

No water got into the salmon, as long as you ensure that it is well wrapped in plently of foil you shouldn't have any problems.

    Thanks for the 10/10 :D

Right I've had a think and here is what I would do for Crispy Duck........

Cook the duck in the oven, (make sure you have spiked it and salted it first)
When cooked strip the duck into shreds
With the skin shredded bits I would torch them with my husbands thingy (the blow torch thing up in the shed somewhere)

Serve on a bed of lettuce wraps.

Tomorrow I will tell you how to cook fried eggs on the BBQ:rotfl: :rotfl:

Where did you come by that little gem, The Boy Scout Backwoods Cook Book?
I love my spell checker, it stops me making all sorts of stupid smelling mistakes.
