Centreparcs - is there a cheaper way?

I would like to take my kids to Centreparcs in Cumbria but have been  at the price of accommodation - more than £800 for 4 days at Xmas in the cheapest cabin and upwards of £600 in November.

Are people really paying these prices? Is there a cheaper way of booking? Are there any discounts about?

And for anyone who's been there - what are the prices like for food/drink and activities?

Any advice much appreciated.

  • Discounts are available but are normally off season, if you join their mailing list you get them quite frequently, normally 20-25% off certain bookings but as I say, you won't get this at christmas as its normally pretty full there.

    valid until October
  • try ringing and quoting PPPF, you can save up to 25%
  • We go to centreparcs in mainland europe as it is a lot cheaper, for example am going in oct half term have got a De luxe villa for 5 for £225.00 euros which is roughly the same in pounds got a ferry for £45.00 return. Looked on website for same time for uk parcs and cheapest was £775.00 for standard villa.

Activities are quite expensive i think, mine are 7, 5 and 3 and are quite content to swim all day and then go to disco in evening.

if you go to www.centerparcs.com and then use the right hand side to log into european ones.
  • agreed - center parcs definitely cheaper abroad even with ferries added in.

what about fuel costs?? How much would it cost in petrol/diesel to get to them. Having never been I don't know how far away they are.
    thanks

    Hi there

we went to whinfell in the lake district in May - It was great fun. We were there with friends and their baby, so we didn't do any 'activities' and cooked in our lodge each night.

Our overall stay was wonderful, but we all remarked that the activities were costly and we were glad we didn't have children badgering us to do x,y and z as it would have cost us a fortune! The pool area is clean and large and more importantly free, so I would try and make good use of that if you go. There are lots of lovely tracks to walk on as well which doesn't cost anything.

the only place we did 'eat out' was in starbucks where we had some coffee a couple of times - didn't notice a price hike from normal though.

It was a great weekend and I would recommend it - but I think that just booking a self-catering cottage somewhere would work out cheaper.

Sherwood is cheaper than this - I've just booked a december weekend break at £400. The cheapest available cabins were about £350. I also used PPPZ and got 15% off.

I found the activities reasonably prices. For example, I've booked my kids to do rollerskating (£4), fencing (£7), baking (£15 for a 3 hour session) and xmas party (£15 for 3 hours). I didnt think it was too bad :)

those activities look reasonable - the ones we had in our brochure in May at whinfell were lots more than that!

Thge closest ones are about 3 hours from Dunkerque or Calais I think, from memory we use no more than one tank of fuel to get from the port to the parc and back. We've been to two parcs in Holland and it is far, far cheaper. February half term this year we paid £500 for a 4 bed deluxe villa, hiring 8 bikes and taking two car son the ferry. To go to Whinfell in similar accomodation would have been £1100 for the Villa alone. That £600 difference buys a lot of fuel!

If you go to https://www.centerparcs.com you can check the prices. Norfolkline from Dover to Dunkerque are normally the cheaperst ferries and Dunkerque is slightly closer to Belgium and Holland than calais.

Unfotunately next year the Dutch and Belgian school ar having the same half term as us so it's not so cheap and the exchange rate is rubbish as well which doesn't help.
It's my problem, it's my problem
If I feel the need to hide
And it's my problem if I have no friends
And feel I want to die
