I've got some dried-in bloodstains I need to remove from a carpet.
Any suggestions for doing this without ruining the carpet?
P.S. No funny comments please

I am trying very hard to refrain from asking how blood got on your carpet..:o I am a nosey beggar...;) (and I'm slightly worried what the answer maybe if i'm honest! lol)
I've never had this problem but I use Vanish upholstery cleaner to remove the more conventional stains...."There are no pockets in a shroud..."0 -
Hydrogen peroxide, spray a weak solution on the stain and blot off with a dark cloth or spray dry stain with cold water and pour on table salt, work the stain gently and the salt will absorb the blood:D0

Is it only on the carpet?
Where's my luminol? The reason people don't move right down inside the carriage is that there's nothing to hold onto when you're in the middle.0 -

If your stain is still there... try a little bio washing powder mixed into a paste. Leave a few minutes then wipe off and gently dab remainders off with a wet cloth.Hi, I'm a Board Guide on the Old Style and the Consumer Rights boards which means I'm a volunteer to help the boards run smoothly and can move and merge posts there. Salt's supposed to be effective at getting rid of bloodstains, I've used it on clothes and pillows (Eldest used to have regular nosebleeds)
Not sure how you'd do it with a carpet? Maybe spray till damp and sprinkled on?0 -
Think a good soak with some warm water and salt should help, worked on my t-shirt at the weekend.
p.s. it wasn't me, honest! I was nowhere near your house at that time!2p off is still 2p off!0 -
As a regular nose bleeder I've always found salt and a little water very effetive at getting blood out of most thinks0
