Money Saving/Frugal Living/Voluntary Simplicity Blogs

Don't know if this has been posted before, but inspired by the person who has just started up a new blog, I am keen to read more.

So, what blogs do you read?

I'm looking forward to the answers on this-- so many of the fab blogs I've read from this forum end up with me wanting to spend MORE money on trying to live beautifully rather than frugally!! I just seem to end up miserable that I DON'T have an aga, a huge country kitchen filled with gorgeous handicrafts and home baked goodies, happy children frolicking with the goats in the garden etc etc....!

  • Just wait til Ceredwin sees this post, she will be able to suggest loads.
My favourites for frugal living are are
    http://amoregreenandsimplelife.blogspot.com/
    http://www.hedgewizardsdiary.blogspot.com/
    http://movetoportugal.blogspot.com/

Hedgewizard is one who posts regularly, the others seem to be more sporadic.

  • Hi rosh 12,

I know exactly what you mean! I find it really difficult watching tv programmes (or reading about) people who've decided to life "the good life" but who've spent huge amounts of money on the setup. If only I were so lucky! I'm writting my own blog (link to it is on my profile) but there won't be any mention of agas or other similar things. I'll soon be working 9-5 and living with my OH in a fairly big city. So it couldn't be more different really. I'm hoping it'll still be a good read despite my lack of amusing aga stories, or countryside anecdotes. :)
  • Thanks for the mention Hester.

I definitely don't have aga stories or frolicking children. Just oven chips and televisions on full volume!:D Although living frugally we do eat so much better than before and I can now cook from scratch.

I do need to update the blog though, but with work and us getting married in December my days are so busy. Hopefully after Christmas everything will settle down and I will be able to post regularly again.

Saw Hester's comments re I will be able to suggest loads - have you got through them all yet Hester?:rotfl:

I have quite a few mentioned in my $12,000 a year thread on this Forum - so the best thing to do is go back through that (its gotten quite long by now - so put your feet up with a cup of coffee time!).

Basically - one finds blogs like this by googling for keywords like simple living/green living/voluntary simplicity/frugal and the second step is that bloggers have a tendency to list other likeminded blogs that they like on their webpage - so one goes off into them to investigate whether they are also to your taste.

Now there is a certain X-rated blog (wake up and pay attention there Hester!) that could maybe add on some suggested "like-minded" blogs on its pages ! speaking of further reading........:rotfl: :rotfl: :rotfl: now that was naughty of me wasnt it Hester!

    one i like a lot: http://bean-sprouts.blogspot.com/ and http://kooringa.com/ and http://www.cottagesmallholder.com/.

most of these blogs have blogrolls which are worth looking at for more writers on different subject. My key thing is sustainability/green or frugal living/allotmenteering/gardening, so the blogroll on mine reflects that accordingly. I know Mel (beansprouts above) has a pretty good one.

That was a beautiful little blog twink.

You will like the following website (not a blog):

    http:www.celtnet.org.uk/

which I came across when I was looking for medieval recipes.
