Hi,
Have been quoted £208 for Landlord Buildings insurance. It seems quite expensive. I wondering if anyone knew of anyone cheaper. A lot of insurance companies don't seem to want to take on landlord insurance.

Expensive compared to what?? that quote seems cheap to me compared to our LL buildings cover...0 -
Hard to say who will be cheaper, but https://www.halifax.co.uk/insurance issue quotes on it.0

I used the London office of the St Giles Group (http://www.stgilespi.co.uk/) who found me a good policy with AXA (which paid out quite a substantial sum a few months later when a broken pipe caused water damage to our ceiling and wall).
In our case we needed a policy that would cover a shared-freehold converted house, of which the upper-floor flat was owner-occupied and the ground floor flat (ours) was let. Most large brokers couldn't handle this, but St Giles sorted it out in no time.0 -

If you're a member of a local affiliated or national LL Association, your membership will usually qualify you for discounts with firms such as Alan Boswell. Also have a look at Endsleigh. LL Assoc membership will also keep you up to date with relevant legislation and allow you access to plenty of other useful resources - your membership fee is tax deductible (and in any event the discount you get on the premium generally balances the cost out)0 -
Its rather meaningless to post a figure on here and ask if its expensive. The quote will depend on all sorts of risk factors such as size/value or property, postcode etc. All you can do is phone round - just like with any other form of insurance.0

The very least you need to post is the building sum insured.
If it's £200k it's very cheap, if it's £60k is fairly dear. And is it just for buildings cover or any contents?0 -

Microstar, if you read the thread properly you will see I didn't ask if it was expensive, I said it seemed expensive. I wasn't looking to get an exact quote from someone, just a recommendation of a good landlord insurance company. I am well aware that the quote depends on many things.Total (Aug 19):€58,567 Now:€26,947
