Any views from the experts on this machine please?

Supplementary question.

I download video from by Cannon DV Camcorder onto my current Medion Desktop using the Firewire, which this new machine seems not to have. Are any of the connections shown the equivalent?

Doesn't look like ti has firewire. But firewire cards are cheap.

    e.g. http://www.ebuyer.com/product/123979/show_product_reviews

It looks OK for the price but bear in mind it's using older DDR2 memory and the processor is a core 2 quad not one of the more recent i5 or i7 ones. That's obviously helped keep the price down.

If you just want a decent everyday machine it should be fine and will probably play games OK as well.

Thats a really good price for a Quad Core system with 1Tb hard disk and separate graphics card - I dont think you would find better value anywhere really. It even has hot swap disk bays. From what I know of Medion they are generally ok - the best thing is the 3 year warranty at that price. Get it now!

Thats got to be the most mediocre view on a system like this regarding price i have ever seen lol.

OP the system is sound, and will surpass requirements for anything but medium graphics intensive gaming and up.

And for the price, its very appealing.
    Back by no demand whatsoever.

In my opinion definitely go for it, seems a cracking deal for the price, my only concern would have been tacky putting together etc but the 3 year warranty covers that, it should take all you can throw at it as a good family computer!

Medion are fine. As well screwed together, if not better, than most Dells.

Would have been nice to have a wifi n card built in, but even so its a bargain.

I don't know how they sell it so cheap. A 1Tb SATA drive is usually £70 on its own.
Seriously though, it may be possable to fit an I5 or I7 cpu to the motherboard as and when you need too.
A lot of people write-off cheap PC's like this one just because they 'don't play the latest games'. So what, for surfing the net, watching DVDs, listerning to music, typing letters & photo-editing it will work just fine, and Medion have a good customer service record (unlike Acer).

Don't be fooled by the graphics card. It's not for gaming and will perform poorly in that area.

Should be fine for every day but you can tell it's a mega cheap motherboard the fact it has to PS/2 ports on it. Are they living in the 90s? Not an issue really just means you can't swap the keyboard out while the machine is switched on.

For what you need it should be fine.

Just bear in mind this does not apear to come with a screen - so add around £130 + for a reasonable 22" screen

I notice it has 6 empty card slots on the back, would the M/B have room for another 6 cards.
