Another tour operator has gone under today, Seguro Holidays (ATOL 3251) that operated mainly from Prestwick Airport has gone into administration this afternoon. They are blaming Futura who went bust yesterday as they used Futura for 80% of their flights.

There is more advice on CAA website for anyone effected http://www.caa.co.uk/default.aspx?catid=27
The CAA are making arrangements to fly anyone who is abroad home.
If you have booked to travel with Seguro you should submit a claim for that is available on the CAA website. http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/1052/seguro.pdf
If you paid by credit card directly to Seguro Holidays then you must contact your card issuer asap and forward a copy of the letter that is on the link for claims above.

Thanks Engadine for information!
Totally gutted! Had a holiday in Tenerife booked for the october week for the family. Paid Visa debit (which offers no cover grrrrrrrrr!) and booked via website. You work your butt off splurge on a fabulous vacation and this happens. Anyone know the probability of getting anywhere close to a full refund?
Any chance we may still get to go?0 -
Sorry to hear about you holiday, no wonder you are gutted.
As you paid by visa debit card then you should be covered, phone your card issuer and speak to them asap.
There will be no chance that you will still get to travel as all holidays have been cancelled.:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

As Engadine said your costs should still be recovered even if you used a Visa Debit card. You need to ask them to do a chargeback. If you search you'll find out about it but it is reported that a lot of bank staff are not familiar with it so don't take an initial no for an answer.0 -

Was a last chance saloon hope I would still be able to go
Have already spoken to our bank (bank of scotland) who says that basically as it was a visa debit and not a visa credit card we get no cover! So fed up! I thought they offered the same protection! They will pursue the case and the lady said if there is anything left after liquidation then we may get something back. Fifekin is this not the case dont know much about these things? She spoke to her supervisor. May drag the baby and 4 year old into the bank and have a tantrum ... see what happens !
I think Seguro is ABTA and mum who knows everything says it is covered by their insurance and it could be worse and nobody is fatally ill!
Just be soooo looking forward to some sunshine after a totally sucky wet ayrshire summer as you prolly know!!!!

Keep on the case with Bank of Scotland, as Fifekin says a lot of bank staff are now familiar with the procedure etc so don't give up. I would call back and ask to speak to a Supervisor.
Seguro were ABTA members but as you booked a package it is covered by their ATOL. If Bank of Scotland won't do anything you can submit a claim to the CAA http://www.caa.co.uk/docs/1052/seguro.pdf
No wonder you were looking forward to some sunshine, weather around here has been so bad this summer! And it's raining again!!:j Debt free since 31/01/08:j

If you booked your holiday through a travel agent you should contact them. If not, as Seguro were ATOL protected you can download a claim form from the CAA's website.
There's more information about the Seguro collapse here
Good luck0 -
Visa chargeback has been featured a couple of times on Working Lunch http://news.bbc.co.uk/1/hi/programmes/working_lunch/7347146.stm (first time was 2005, then again last week - probably as some banks are still in "computer says no" mode) - keep at them and good luck.0

Phoned again tonight ... surprise surprise ... computer says no  Might go into the bank tomorrow but don't really want to have a hissy fit and end up closing the account - toooo much hassle!
Can claim via ATOL seemingly for the full amount so all is not lost. Won't get our touch of sunshine this year but at least should be able to afford next year!
Thanks for help you guys have been great!0 -
Hopefully you'll get your cash back from ATOL, but may be worth emailing working lunch anyway (working.lunch@bbc.co.uk) and letting them know that BoS don't recognise Visa chargeback (amazing how quickly the to$$ers cave in when they get a bit of telly time).0

Big thanks for all the advice - especially the not taking No for an answer!! Eventually went armed with print outs of the links into my local branch. After a bit of discussion (all very friendly) and them consulting an email received on Zoom airlines and chargeback on a visa debit they filled the form out for me!
Never even had to have a hissy fit - thank god could not deal with resetting up all my direct debits and stuff ;-)0
