Dear all
can you recommend any good days out in Norfolk for DH, me and dd (3 years old) we are going 21st April for one week, staying at Caister just North of Great Yarmouth.
I will be 6 months pregnant at the time.
We don't mind travelling a distance (up to 1.5 hours to get to somewhere)
Also any recommendations for good shopping areas and family restaurants in and around Caister and surrounding areas appreciated (we are fine with Brewers fayre, harvester and the like)
Thanks in Advance

Hi!!
Obviously the seafront in Gt Yarmouth is a good place to start with lots of attractions (although most cost money)
Norwich for shopping is 45 minutes away....park and ride is everywhere, easily accessible buses and a great city in my opinion.
Pettits animal adventure park is another pay on entry place but your 3 year old will love it.
In Caister there is the castle restaurant with a play area which I haven't tried yet but hear its good.
There is a brewers fayer with one of their soft play areas heading in to Lowestoft (just follow signs to the A12)
Is that enough to start with?
pm me if you want any other info. (We live near Gt Yarmouth and my wife teaches in Caister)Praying at the church of MSE should be compulsory!

Its a little out of the way, but Ranworth Broad, has a nature reserve. A day in Norwich is well worth it. Check out the Castle Museum (Ahh, those school trips twenty years ago).
Strangers Hall museum is also there, which is weird, but very interesting. Oh, and The Forum (On the site of the old library which burnt down) is now considered the model for libraries throughout the country."Don't critisise what people look like, how they speak, where they are from, and what they are called. They cannot help it.
Do critisise what they say, and what they do, especially if what they say is different to what they do. They can help that"

yeds the food at the Castle is very good try the carvery,If you are staying in Caister go and visit the lifeboat it a volunteer one and self supporting. Also in Tan Lane the ship pub is good as is the fish and chip opposite If you want to find some bargains visit Lathams at Potter Heigham about 6 miles from Caister,it on the Norfolk Broads ,you can feed the ducks and swans there. We love Caisterand go with our caravan several times a year if you dont want to take the car into Yarmouth ,there is a frequent bus service.
hope you have a great time.0 -
Dont miss chips off Great Yarmouth Marketplace if you go-the best (with garlic mayonnaise for me).Go to Wroxham on the norfolk Broads and take a ride on a paddle steamer.North Norfolk eg Holt or Blakeney (go on a boat trip to see seals) are both very special places.0

I thoroughly recommend either a ride on the Bure Valley Railway or the North Norfolk Railway. The BVR runs from Aylsham to Wroxham, and is a 45 min ride. The NNR runs from Sheringham to Holt.0

Pettits is fantastic. we took our 2 year old and it was excellent for him. if you are staying at a holiday park check to see if you can buy the tickets there as we did at haven and saved about £2-3 per ticket but its only about £7-8 anyway and worth every penny. if you go into a big supermarket in norfolk there are loads of leaflets and booklets with money off vouchers for places too. i picked poads up. we are also going to be back there in april staying at haven wild duck park again and will be going to Pettits again but im certainly checking back on this thread for more ideas as we are there for just over a week.
have a great time

Ditto to the above - North Norfolk is just so so pretty - you can not go wrong. Nice steam train runs from Sheringham, Cromer is lovely and the kids get a bucket and line and go crabbing off the pier - they love it. Although, will probably be a bit chilly for that. Also try https://www.tripadvisor.com and see what other recommend. Hunstanton also has a nice beach - but really you have that where you are anyway. Have a great time.Food and Smellies Shop target £50 pw - managed average of £49 per week in 2013 down to £38.90 per week in 20160
