Hi all, has anyone else on this board heard of Spotify? I was reading about it in the Independent a couple of weeks ago and have finally got an account. Its AMAZING - basically free and legal itunes! Thought I'd spread the word so others can enjoy!

Not as far as I can tell. It seems to be a filesharing equivalent of the we7 business model.
Although the OP's post does come across as very spammy."She is quite the oddball. Did you notice how she didn't even get excited when she saw this original ZX-81?"

This appears to be the article the OP was referring to so I guess it wasn't just me who thought it was similar to we7. http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/features/music-streaming-the-end-for-ipods-1034938.html"She is quite the oddball. No, this is the article I was referring to - http://www.independent.co.uk/life-style/gadgets-and-tech/features/cloudsurfing-welcome-to-the-future-of-computing-1021326.html
But yes, both We7 and Spotify seem to be similar..
Conor - in response to your post, Spotify is totally legal and supported by all the record companies. There is also no charge - hence why my original post is that Spotify is FREE.0 -
It says it's only free by invitation, otherwise you have to pay.0

A review on cnet.co.uk (http://crave!!!!et.co.uk/digitalmusic/0,39029432,49300204,00.htm) said it was open to all, here - https://www.spotify.com/en/get-started/0

Well there's a first. Found the announcement on EMI's site. Forgive my cynicism, I've heard it all before.0 -
No worries Conor, we all have!
I work in music and, as someone who has trawled MSE for discounts for years, figured it was worth giving something back and sharing with as many people as possible! Free, legal music.. is it a MSE first??!0
