£3000 to replace gas boiler?

Aunt had a quote from BG to replace an 8 year old combi boiler with a new Worcester Greenstar 28i boiler - located in the kitchen, not in a cupboard, on an external wall. She will get £300 trade in, £300 warm front and £100 homecare discount (she is 86).
Quote is £2973 (1 day allowed for installation)
This seems very expensive to me but appreciate comments.

would an 8 year old boiler need replacing, if so please get quotes from other reliable corgi installers in the area they will be cheaper.
BG fitted new boiler for my sis last week, told her 2 day job, (it took 4) they finished thurs and within the hour it had broken down, they came again fri and couldnt fix it and left her cold all weekend and no hot water, then same guy from fri arrived mon and fixed it finally, but no new parts req, so why didnt he fix it on friday. £3,300 but we are now after a reduction0 -

She has already had it replaced - at the cost I show here - I'm trying to see if this was a fair quote as it seemed very expensive to me.0

Good morning: The Greenstar Junior range is WB's cheapest combi with fewer features than the Si or CDi. Whether the cost is reasonable would depend on a number of factors including location in the UK, flueing requirements, if upsizing of gas supply was required, powerflush, fitting of a Boiler Buddy/Magnaclean and scale inhibitor, controls (eg. programmable rooms stat, TRVs), lagging (insulation) on HW pipework etc. This guide from the Energy Saving Trust details the specification and installation of gas boilers for Basic and Best Practice.

There should be a sticky on this subject with at least the following replies:-
- You paid too much
- You got the wrong boiler
- Your installer is a crook/thief/idiot/British Gas employee
- We paid nothing for the same job and the installer was grateful to us
- My mates brothers uncles sisters mother does knows someone .....
- My husband is a top boffin and he doesn't charge that much
- I know nothing about this subject, but here's my opinion
- I know where you can buy this top of the range boiler for a fiver, but I'm not saying where
- I heard of someone who had a boiler installed, two years later he died unexpectedly
- How much? I'm in the wrong job etc
- All plumbers like nothing more than to go though your knicker drawer
- Have you tried bleeding the radiators?

Thanks Canucklehead - will check her paperwork, but I know there were no changes to gas supply, fitting of TRV's etc (I think there was an item for earthing - ~£120 included in the quote). She lives in the NW of England.0 -
