For a fantastic little stockingfiller check out:

NB - you need to get an SD card to use with this. 7 Day are also doing a 512MB card for around £16. This gets you a 512MB MP3 player for under £30 delivered.

I bought one of these last month, when 7dayshop offered me free delivery. It's my first mp3 player, so I have nothing to compare it with, but it really is a terrific player. I also got the 512MB SD card, as it was the cheapest I could find.
7dayshop seem to be offering free delivery to anyone who has registered with them but either has never bought anything from them or haven't bought anything from them, in a while. So it might be worth registering with them and seeing if you get an email from them with the offer.Wins 2007 :Boots £125, XBOX 360 & 3 games 2008:5 David Gray CDs £10 DVD voucher 2 Crossed Bones DVD & chocolate Torch. You can get a matsunichi 512Mb MP3/WMA player for £29.99 from PC world ( and possibly dixons / currys - they definately have the 256Mb ones)..
These are much better than the posted model.
I bought a 256 Mb version for £19.99 ( identical apart from memory size). They are excellent for the money. They have ID3 tag display (or meta tags from WMAs) , shuffle play ( very usefull on these larger solid state player that do not have folder browsing).
It has loads of options - even down to how fast you want the song title to scroll across the display.
I sold it to a workmate ( i only bought it to enable me to get a packard bell MP3 CD/radio for £9.99 - it had £15 off if bought with any mp3 player). Its so impressive though that i wish i had kept it ( though i had little use for it).0 -
Sainsburys (larger stores) have got 256mb MP3 players for £19.99. Buy the MP3 player and you can get mini speakers for half price for £9.99. Atleast you can get to see what the MP3 player is like before you buy it.0

This type of SD based MP3 player are great. All other MP3 players are limited to their initial memory size. However these can grow, along with your music collection and usage.
You can get a 256mb SD card for about £13 off ebay. Then if you find you are getting more and more use from it just buy additional bigger SD cards, especially as prices for cards constantly come down.

Totally agree. . .with the continual fall in memory prices, you'll soon be able to have a collection of music spread across 512mb cards for buttons. Not too mention, if the card fails - you can replace it. It's virtually impossible to do this with a fixed storage mp3 player. Plus - if you have another device that takes SD cards, your money is going a little further. . .
at 8.99 its got to be a no-brainer.. .0 -
Yes but if you put 512mb of music on and there is no folder navigation or even shuffle play you will end up listening to the same few tracks every time ( the ones it plays first). Unless you press the track forward button a hundred times !!!
At least if it had shuffle you could jump to a random track.
£8.99 + £18 ( approx) for a 512MB card + postage is not a no-brainer !!!
Is about the same price as a 512Mb player from Currys or PC world ( Matsunichi at £29.99) that has WMA playback , ID3 tag display ( so if you do skip forward a few tracks you know what the track is instead of having to wait till you recognise the music) ,shuffle and lots of other features the £8.99 player does not have.
I know which i would go for..0
