Changing Microsoft Passport E-mail Address

This is driving me nuts! I've done it before, but just can't remember how I did it.
When I first made a Passport many moons ago, you couldn't use your own domain name address (don't know if this has changed now) so had to use either a hotmail address or my then current IP. So I went for my current IP - of course I moved IP's, then had to change my passport e-mail address. I did try to set up a hotmail account when they brought out the .co.uk addresses, but they deleted it within a month of me opening it, so gave up on that idea. So it is now with my old IP (plusnet) - who are having virtually constant e-mail problems - and I'm wanting to change it again. Preferably to my own domain address, but I can't for the life of me work out how to do it.
I've been to the passport site, and can get to the bit where it shows your options, including the option to "change" next to your e-mail address, however, when I do this the only option seems to be to change it to a hotmail.com address.
How do I get to change it WITHOUT using a hotmail account?

Use an e-mail address you already have
You can use any existing e-mail address from any e-mail provider when you create your credentials for the Passport Network. Then you can use those credentials to sign in to any site on the Passport Network.0 -
Sign up for GMail/GoogleMail, I have invites if you need one then you can use it as a passport.0

As far as I can tell, this is to create a new passport account? I already have an account, which is connected to my LiveSpaces and Messenger accounts - I just want to be able to change the primary e-mail address connected with these.everythingblogcast wrote:Sign up for GMail/GoogleMail, I have invites if you need one then you can use it as a passport.
Thanks for the offer, but I already have a Googlemail account - I would be happy to use it as my passport e-mail address, if I could work out how to change it!! :rotfl:0 -

Ah I see sorry I dont use Livespaces at all, but why not ask someone else on Livespaces if their is a community, sorry0 -
No problem - it's actually all connected - the Livespaces, Messenger and a load of other stuff is all connected by the Microsoft Passport network, so I'm thinking if I can do it, it will be somewhere on that site you linked to, just can't find it!!0

I know you stated that you have it already its just an example - confused yet, well I am. lol0

I'm starting to think that they've changed it. I've done a "google", but the only relevant items that tell me how to do it are obviously outdated as they no longer link to the correct places or work if they are a step-by-step guide.
Perhaps they've changed it to force people to use a hotmail account. A bit annoying as if I can use an account with my e-mail software I tend to forget about it. The Googlemail is slightly different as I use that as my landing page anyway. sigh.0 -
well, I've given up. Obviously Microsoft intended me to have a hotmail account, so I've just set one up - it's just sooo annoying that (a) I can't use any e-mail address I want anymore, and (b) I can only use a hotmail.com account - of which there must be millions of users so takes forever to get an address that is only vaguely suitable. Grrrr.
If anyone does work out how to change it to a "normal" address, please let me know!!! :rolleyes:0
