  • Not sure if I am on the right thread but thought I would let you all know about current deal running with hilton.

Book before 6th October 2008 and you get up to 40% discount on hilton hotels across the UK. Included in the price is dinner on the 1st night and breakfast both mornings. So for two people to go to london docklands hilton for example would work out approx £76 each for the 2 nights.

You can bag yourself a weekend away for as little as £49.

I went onto Priceline US to try and bid on hotel rooms as suggested, but the dropdown where you fill in your credit card details won't accept non-US addresses. Is there a UK site we're meant to use?
well spotted applegrass,I too found the same, perhaps the M.S.E. team can find out.In a bid situation the hotel booking agency will only accept Visa.Master card,Amex, and some obscure card not known by me.I don't have a credit card only a debit card and Paypal, apparently not used in this type of transaction. Can someone please advise how I can take advantage of this type of offer i.e.unamed hotels.please don't say get a card I am going in 3 weeks, and don't have the time it takes about 3 weeks or more to process

  • I've just used the service from https://www.infotel.co.uk - the website is a bit awkward, but if you call them on 01775 843413 they have a call centre (and it's in the UK).

I wanted a hotel in London and so gave them a call with my budget etc. and they rang back 20 minutes later with an additional £25 off the price advertised on the website. Everything came through via SMS and absolutely no hassle. I checked the hotel on the other online sites and they were as cheap (or cheaper) - so for a five minute phone call I saved hours of internet trawling. :T

Will be using them again (and again)!

Take a look at this guide.

The UK priceline site takes debit cards.

MSE also wrote a guide, (well they actually copied mine:rolleyes:).
  • Hi, I'm looking for budget accommodation from next Thursday until Sunday in or very close to Edinburgh. Has anyone any ideas? Only need to put our heads down on a pillow as we will be at the motorbike show during the day. Preferable 2 beds or bed + sofa.
    Many thanks for any ideas

Travelodge have a sale on just now so always worth checking - I think there are two in Edinburgh - one near Haymarket and one near Waverley.
  • Just a warning-used hotwire.com to book a hotel in bloomsbury. when the hotel came up it was in regent's park. when i called and asked to change that, i was told by them that regent's park is within a mile of bloomsbury, AND on their maps the hotel was in bloomsbury. i asked who made their maps and the woman said they made them!!!! i would NEVER use this site again, as it is deceptive.
