    Afternoon All

Went to Tesco's today and spent £20.02. Need to adjust my figures. Not doing so well this month and haven't even though about Easter.

Have bought some bits and piece that I need for my hols so i guess not as bad as I used to be. At least now I am actually thinking about what I put in my trolley. Where as before I would just have worried when I saw the bill ;)

    :hello: Hi everyone
I've got my third shop of the month being delivered tonight which I think will be about £70. My last shop of the month will be on the 25th and if I keep that one at about £70 aswell then I will be under my month's target by £43!! :j
I think I should manage this because I've got all the main bits I need for the next fortnight's meals. I'm gonna try really hard and see if i can get it even lower than £70 although I will need to get some more nappies next week.
My DS is 18 months and up to now half of his meals have been jars :naughty: but I've started having our evening meal earlier so that we can include him and he has been loving it. He really likes his veg aswell which is great but he thinks mash is a fingerfood for some reason . I've also saved about a fiver a week by buying a couple of flannels which I use to wash his face and hands after meals instead of using wipes.:money:
MrsM I just wanted to say thanks again for the tortilla recipe:T . I just used the dough balls that I defrosted last night and they rolled out even bigger than the fresh ones did. I made Quesadillas (I think that's what they're called) by placing one in a frying pan, topping with the last bits of cheese I had in the fridge and a squirt of tomato puree and then topping with another tortilla. It was really yummy and filling(and cheap) :)
Well done everyone that's doing well this month:T :T and ((((((hugs)))))) those who aren't.

    Hi,
I've just cancelled my Tesco delivery for tomorrow and decided to try to to go the shop instead and stick to a list as I will have the afternoon free and can see what's there instead of doing the same old shopping as usual.
Will take a list of teh essentials though and try to stick to that.
Will also save the £4.75 delivery charge - will probably end up spending it instore though!

  • Afternoon all,

just got back from a hectic shopping trip. kids round here already finished for easter and my DD had to come with me too, didnt do too bad though resisited most of her attempts at getting extras in the trolley!!! just been in mr m and spent £58.19 several offers on and had to get extra in for easter lots of family visiting and wanting feeding. Then in town to wilkinsons and another £3.33 gone on DD toiletries. Now I have a grand total of £13.48 left to spend /save before monday. Will hopefully only need fruit and veg and milk on saturday. Hoping to have come in nearer to £320 mark but staying under £400 I will be well chuffed as we would normally have spent £520.
Money saved each month is being split in to two, half toward holiday spending money and half to pay for christmas 2008( dont ever want to use cc again if possible- no fun paying for xmas in july!!).

got to work out now what i can do in April, may be slightly tougher as I started march with well stuffed cupboards etc., about half full at minute but quickly stuffing freezer with hm meals etc.

offers in morrisons today- got dutch free range eggs 99p for 6 (36p cheaper than british), philidelphia at 92p (300g pack), loo rolls £1/4.

WEEZL- going to try the bread later in the week thanks for posting it

  • hi COOLTRICKERCHICK- can you use wood on your fire ? lots of places will let you have it for free. we have a wood burner to supplement our heating (we have gas central heating) but day time and spring/autumn days we are using it. Local timber yards etc have to pay to dump off cuts etc in skips. ours is glad to pile it on one side for us to collect and its free. We used to add it to our coal fire previously. just an idea but you can get free wood all over the place (old fencing etc, people having trees cut down) everyone glad to get rid of it. Also we used to buy as much coal as possible in the summer months as it used to be cheaper then, dont know if its still the case though. If not plenty of woolly jumpers and hot drinks or hm soups. Take care.

even though we use wood to start the fire... it blackens all the glass etc....i think we will be ok, the fire more or less went out this morning, so the house is still warm...

but thanks for the ideas....would love a proper wood burning stove... and an old rayburn/arga like i used to have when i was younger...

one of things i can remember about that.. i dried my jeans once on the rails, and when i went out to the pub.. i smelt like burned wood ...lol...

i told my mates it must have been the bloke in his work clothes which was standing by us
