FTTH - tied to ISP?

Options
My property is part of a development where all the homes have Fibre To The Home (FTTH), so voice, broadband, TV and satellite are all fed from the local exchange by fibre directly into the home. The ISP is BT. I understand this type of installation is becoming common for new builds.

But I don't seem to be able to switch to another ISP, meaning I'm paying way over the odds for BTs fibre costs (compared to say PlusNet).

Does anyone know if you can switch FTTH ISPs, or are you stuck with the company than ran the installation? If you can switch can someone suggest some firms?

Thanks - Adrian

In the case of BT provided fibre, its open to any ISP that wants to resell it.

Is Fibre To The House the same as opposed to standard Fibre to the cabinet .??

If it is open then OP needs to use samknows and see what other fibre suppliers are at the exchange .

The Providers i know who will sell FTTP are listed below (none of them particularly cheap)

    Retail FTTP Providers:
    BT Retail
    Plusnet
    Andrews & Arnold Ltd.
    Zen Internet
    IdNet
    Icuk.net

    Business FTTP Providers:
    Bt Business Fibre Broadband
    Claranet Soho
    Entanet
    Griffin Internet
    NBS Network Solutions
    Zen Internet
    IdNet business

Plusnet will take an order for FTTP but it has to be made via their telephone sales not online and it involves taking a standard ADSL product first and then upgrading at full price,no offers apply.

Hi, Fibre to the Home is different to Fibre to the Cabinet (the fibre goes all the way into the property). But I believe you need to pick a specific FTTH provider.
