Looking for personal fiannce software

I have a Windows 7 PC on which I still use MS Money 2002. perhaps I should have changed to another software ageas ago, but I have not and this now contains ca. 10 years' worth of personal finance data.

I am concered that Windows 10, which is coming up, will not be as accomodating as Windows 7 so I may need to migrate to another software.

Has anyone successfully imported data from MS Money (such an old version as mine) into another software and which one?

Thank you

I still run MS Money in XP. I know XP isn't supported any longer, and I'll probably move to Win 7, which will probably be supported for a very long time.

After one brief encounter with Win 8, I am not rushing to install Win 10. Have you got more info on Win 10 not supporting old applications?

I have looked at all sorts of other personal finance software but I was in general quite unimpressed by the functionality, and nobody claims to support import from MS Money, although some say they support QIF files. I have never tried it myself

As you probably know 7 runs Money very well but it is a real concern that 10 may not.
What puzzles me is that an upgrade to 10 is free so do they want everyone to transfer so that they will not need to support 7 & 8?

I still use Money 2000 with Win7 where it works well. It does not work with Win10 though. I can't recall if I ever tested Money 2005 (the free one), but there's probably more chance of it working.

The apps I recommend import qif. Could someone that uses them try importing their data? You don't need to stop using your old software.

I only use the newer software so not sure about the older unsupported software.

Are you saying that MS Money 2005 is suitable for 64-bit machines?
And do you have a download link for the free version?

    Thank you

No idea whether they are for 64-bit version

Yes, it works just fine on 64bit versions of Windows.

I also need to correct my earlier statement about Money 2000 too - I've just tested it again on the latest Windows 10 build (10166) and it appears to be ok now. It did crash once, so maybe it's not perfect, but I don't recall it even loading before. Money 2005 seemed fine too.

I still prefer the 2000 version as I find the interface cleaner, it's not full of broken internet links, and every time I've tried to upgrade to 2005 it's "lost" 15 years' worth of FTSE tracking data.

Downloaded MS Money 2005, installed easily, updated my MS Money file and was supposed to be ready to go. BUT...

It certainly feels worse than the 2002 version and I could not find the "Portfolio" option that shows all investments - very basic for me. Add to that, when I tried to open my Money files in the older version of the software, it would ask me for a passord which I clearly not have. It did make me panic a bit.

Cut a long story short, I was sensible enough to have made a System Restore point before installing MS Money 2005, I restrored my PC and went back to MS Money 2002. Now, fingers crossed, Win10 will not mess me up.

Looked at other software but they all look unispriging.

PS. Forgot to mention, I do not care for online updating, I do all data entering myself, manually - I dwould not trust any software with my bank login details. It would help if share/fund prices would update automatically through the software, but it is not a priority.

MS 2005 money works fine on W8.1 - 64 bit so may work on 10,
will find out in few weeks when the laptop is updated.
Spare copy of ms-05 running on the lap top, my main ms-05 runs on W7
which I will not be updating, until the spare copy is UP and OK on the lappy on w10.
