  • OK first time doing this in a long time, n it aint goin too good. I have spent £38.44/60, which leaves me £21.56, but it will be a good exercise in self restraint as I really don't need anything. Made a hugh pot of veggie stew this morning with left over veggies n trying to use up stores. Wanted to make Jack Monroe Carrot n Cumin Burgers, no cumin, but I might use smoked paprika instead.

£6 spent in marks on my way back from work with the new family. So many YSs early in the morning! What a pity I did not have a need for much as I had just shopped yesterday. Will have to remember and get ready to shop with my vouchers on my way back from work next week.
Finally I'm an OAP and can travel free (in London at least!).

Finally did the rest of this weeks shopping. £19.51 spent and signature updated.
  • Miss Try To Save Have you ever thought of doing a second purse. What I sometimes do, when I want to stock up, eg on laundry liquid etc., I don't add it into the budget, but put a price sticker on it and when I start to use it, will add to that months budget.

  • zarfiro i do crispy potatoes by par boiling them, drain them, add a sprinkle of salt and some "one cal" spray oil, give them a good shake, then finish off in the oven.

This way they are crispy on outside, but soft and fluffy on the inside. :)

Same here... after par-boiling, I leave them in the colander on the side for a few minutes until the steam stops coming off them and then sort of bash them around in the pot a little bit...fluffing up the edges and the steam removing some of the moisture helps crisp up the edge... I saw this on a Jamie Oliver show and it works.

    Another NSD for me today...
Being over zealous with the shopping delivery, I ordered more fruit than I have eaten so have chopped up all of the over-ripened bananas, pineapple etc for the freezer... From what Ive read, itll all be fine in smoothies. :D

Also, THANK YOU to whoever posted about being able to freeze houmous... A pot went in the freezer today... ;)
