Vodafone Insurance Scam who else??

Options
I have NEVER NEVER had any insurance on ANY mobile phone contract I have had. NEVER.

So when checking my bill i noticed a £13 per month charge for insurance on one of my numbers. [I pay for the whole family's set of phones]

I had been charged for about 14 months. I had been unable to access my bill as i couldn't login to my account online, and Vodafone had stopped sending paper bills.

when i queried this charge, vodafone said I must have asked for it, and I said NO, but the employee at the time had offered FREE insurance for 30 days which i had refused, but he must have added it without my consent.

Vodafone refunded me a months contract, about £30, but that was all. So I literally still out of pocket for over £100.

So my question is this.. how many thousands of other people have been charged for insurance they did not ask for. How many partial refunds have Vodafone given, but obviously they don't care as they are well up on this deal.

Its a great deal for Vodafone.. charge £130 refund £30.. up £100.
how many other people have found this charge out, and just assumed its their fault... how many people have taken the insurance, and forgotten to cancel? how many have not asked for it, but haven't checked their bills , and assume its their fault for not checking?

How many millions of pounds are due back to us consumers from mobile phone companies?

Anyone else had this problem?

That's a pretty big extrapolation from what may be a mistake or mess-up rather than a Scam!

How many people don't check their bills for that long? Yes, Vodafone have been robbing you, but why have you been letting them?
  • Just what I was going to say. People who don't bother to check their bank statements are asking for all sorts of problems. How many MORE has been lost because of that!?

Actually the OP does make a very valid point. The vodafone website is completely usless. Its not just me or the OP complaining about it. There are endless posts on this forum about people unable to view bills for months.

If you cant check your bills how are you supposed to know if they are correct? I suppose its just a coincidence that (with VF particularly) an inablility to see what you are being charged for seems to coincide with dubious charges.
  • You can demand to receive paper bills. That's what I've done with several networks when their websites don't work (a common disease nowadays). It also doesn't stop people checking their bank statements. I check mine every day.
