I just rang up Sky to cancel my home phone & broadband.
When I was put through to retentions they offered to discount my line rental to £9.99 a month for 12 months. This makes our line rental £119.88 for the year & it also means that we can pay monthly, rather than paying up front.

They also added on free calls to 0870 & 0845 numbers. I know that you can use saynoto0870.com, but it is still helpful to have.

They wouldn't discount the actual broadband cost or the calls package (we have anytime calls).

I know that this isn't as cheap as the EE deal if you pay the line rental up front & you also get the £100 Amazon voucher, but thought it might be useful for anybody else who wanted to pay line rental each month.

    Hi all,

Just rang Sky as my 12 month contract is up now. Offered £21.40 each month for free BB, anytime calls and line rental. ( don't want or need their tv)

I am not sure that this is a good deal - what do you think guys ? or what have you been offered lately. ? Thanks .

I was offered that, when I rang to cancel my tv.

When I called specifically about phone/bb, I was offered free broadband, with the option to pay line rental in advance, but told that free line rental was not an option. The man said he's ring me back, but didn't and meanwhile I decided the offer could be bettered elsewhere...so called them, again.

I mentioned that the previous offer was easily beaten , asked for free line rental and got it. As I reinstated tv, phone, anytime calls and broadband cost £12.50/month.

I've just left Sky. I was with o2 and really rated them for customer service (I came from Talktalk, they didn't have to do much to better this experience!) I was sent to Sky and straight away saw my bills rise by at minimum £5 a month despite the promise they wouldn't. I was intending on leaving but Sky got there first, in April this year they called me but I wasn't very well at the time, not in any fit state to argue and took up their offer to reduce my bills by £2.50 a month. I still can't understand how I let that go...!

I called up Sky to leave after they raised the prices and sent a warning letter. I have moved to PlusNet, got a far better offer and called up Sky who didn't even try to better it, the women who I was put through to when I said I wanted to leave said it wasn't within her power!
Their loss but at least now I don't have to pay £5 a month because I can't afford a TV.

Was thinking to save money by switching Broadband, call package, and line rental from Sky to Plusnet.

Called Sky retention team on 0332 022 135 in the morning. Gave the person on the other end exact details of what I was being offered by Plusnet (in summary a saving of £210 per year). After being put on hold, was told that the best he could do was free BB for 10 months (£75 saving). Period!!

Immediately after, I called the MAC team to request for a MAC code. The lady on the phone asked me why I was requesting for it. Told her the story and experience on the earlier phone call. She said she did not want me to leave Sky and she would do what she could to keep me as a customer. One hour of (cordial) discussion and numerous holds later, she offered me a deal that was £10 off better than Plusnet (saving £220)!!

If not anything better, at least I managed to save enough not to need to switch to Plusnet. Happy with that!!

    One hour well spent! :T

What telephone number is the MAC team, as I telephoned Sky again, got through to Retention's to request it, and was told I didn't need one ! ?

Also she told me that there were no reduction deals available to me and leave if I wanted to. !

What exactly is your offer from Sky ? ( you say you are saving an awful lot of money without giving specifics.). :)

If you go onto your My Sky page and look up contacts, it gives a list of reasons for contact and the relevant phone numbers.

You don't need a MAC as you are moving from a full LLU service if you have Sky Line Rental.
Also she told me that there were no reduction deals available to me and leave if I wanted to. !

I was offered half price line rental at £8.20pm. With BB at £7.50 that would have amounted to £15.70pm so £188.40 over the year. This would have been a good offer if PlusNet were not offering a £75 credit and Quidco £100 cashback.

So for moving to PlusNet it will cost me £191.95 (Line rental saver plus £2.49 BB plus postage of router) minus £100 quidco cashback and £75 PlusNet cashback. Total of £16.75.
