New forum design

If you saw the different design, what were your thoughts?

I know some people probably liked it but for me, it wasnt as clearly laid out as it is currently. Everything just seemed to jumble up into one big sea of text.

I hate it. I can't read anything properly on the new design any more, it's too large, pale and spread out (and yes my eyesight is perfectly fine!). Like you found, it seemed like everything jumbled up into a big mess. It doesn't fit into the window comfortably like it used to either. If it stays like that I probably won't come on here as much and likely drift into not bothering to come on at all in the end.

Is there a way I can set it to display in the usual format? It's like normal at the minute if I'm logged in, but I don't want to log in every single time if I just want a quick browse, or have to keep logging back in when I've been automatically logged out because I went to do something else for a while.

Old saying "If it ain't broke - don't fix it!"

There is nothing wrong with the existing layout, the proposed new forum design is worse.

I had to endure the new design while being on MSE on my lunch break at work - and endure it is the best word. The layout goes all to hell, it moans about me being on an old Internet Explorer version.

Hey, MSE (and other web designers), people who use the internet from places other than home (work, library, internet cafe) don't always have control over which browser version they have to use, so don't get your site to go on about it, okay?

Go back and read the W3C site design guidelines - those say that you should support as many browsers as possible. And I doubt they say anything about bugging users over something they may have little to no control over.

I really don't like it . Roll on Wednesday when it's back to normal.

It's still normal for me - hasn't changed at all.

If you are logged into MSE then it looks the same as it always was, but if you are viewing without being logged in then it's the new layout.

I honestly can't believe that any website designer actually thinks that the new design is in any way acceptable or an improvement on how it was before.

Saw the new look only just.
    Terrible.

Digital spy had one last year and i wasn't keen at first but i now love it.

But this one it is hard to find threads. The writing is too small & is hard to read against the white.
I like the layout currently even the green :p
Would not want to see it replaced - fine as it is.

Found another problem. When I've finished reading a thread, so I'm at the bottom of the page, there's no forum menu at the bottom any more to jump to another forum or back to the first page of that forum. Instead I've now got to scroll all the way back to the top of the page again to get to it.

And I hate having the OP at the top of every page of a thread! I know what it said, I don't need to read it again and again!

Anyone else finding the buttons/links really hard to find too? It's not just that they're in different places, they're smaller and not obviously placed or clearly visible that it's a link for whatever thing. Thread titles in a forum are also not totally clear that they're clickable links, they look too much like normal text.

And it's chopping off bits of sigs. I've not seen a really long post to see if it does it with those as well.
