  • And something I forgot to mention was that Mad was thrilled to receive the Elite 'get well' cards. I sent a card on behalf of team Elite - a large 6 page folded one and I wrote everybodies name on it along with all the messages.

He was chuffed to bits with it and his family were well impressed that he had so many friends and had made such an impression :)

Such a lovely thing to do

it is 6 years to the day that my wonderful OH lost his battle to this awful, awful disease that touches so many people's lives so the news about Mad has a particular poignancy to it today.

My thoughts go out to his family and to you guys on here to whom I know he was a good friend, albeit in a virtual world. RIP Mad.

    Hugs redfox (((X)))

I've never posted on this thread before, but I just wanted to say how saddened I am on hearing the new of Mads' untimely death. He was younger than he appears on the photo, but it is a great pic. Thanks for posting it Blue. I believe it was taken at the GFS the year that I met him.He was a lovely bloke.I had collected quite a lot of stuff at the show and my bag was bulging and heavy( have to say a lot of the stuff in my bag was put there by Mad and Blue, both of them the kindest/good hearted peeps you could ever wish to meet)Mad would not allow me to carry it to my car, and although he chuntered that I must have parked as far away as was humanly possible , he carried it all the way across the numerous car parks for me....a true gentleman.
I became acquainted with him via the MSE Coupon thread.
He would put postcards he received on his fridge and I was fortunate to be classed as one of his mates and sent him cards from my holidays. He always thanked me and told me how pleased he had been to receive them.....he got the one I sent him from Egypt about 6 weeks after I had returned from my holiday,he thought I had forgotten to send him one, but I had been there when all the trouble started, and we had been confined to our hotel , but when it eventually arrived he was so pleased I had not forgotten him......God Bless Fred...I'll miss you.....Bully....xx

The last part reminded me of the coupon thread days. When there was hardly any coupons around we used to ask mad to do a coupon dance (which mad said he did in his "undercrackers":eek:), first time I have seen that smillie like that since those days. I hope he did one last dance for us

When I think of mad I will remember you saying about the coupon dance

Bully, i'm not sure if this is acceptable to Mads family and friends, but i'm thinking we should all club some money together, and send a tribute for his funeral, if I may suggest "elite" spelt out in flowers ?

The donation total is £337. Can we get it to £400 ?
