  • I noticed I had an email from them and they said they were "simplifying" Final Value Fees! That's an interesting way to describe increasing them!
  • Finally an end to those who extort by charging excessive "post and packaging" fees.

(Stands back and waits for explosion....)

Won't it just be the opposite? People add final fees for the postage price to the postage?

More better would be an incentive to offer free postage.

There are incentives for a business. TRS discounts and higher best match visibility. Plus automatic 5* for p and p

Some sellers will actually be better off. No idea on figures but I assume more actual sellers will be worse off. It would be interesting to know the net difference for Ebay but I'd imagine there's a considerable net gain for them.

I'm sure that my buyers will be pleased when I list my next batch of items and say:

Please note than ebay take 10% of the postage fee, plus another 3.4% with paypal. This is apparently for your benefit, so when you see these charges added to the postage cost, if you have any questions, please contact ebay.

And people, stop saying offer free P&P. It isn't free. I was down the post office yesterday and they took circa £50 off of me. I'll be there tomorrow and I reckon they'll want about £25 off of me. I keep telling them that I want to offer free P&P, but they just look at me funny and say, stick your card in the machine and enter your PIN number.

If anyone has worked out how you can get free P&P then please let me know. Of course if we're talking P&P included in the cost, then I understand that, I also understand ebay/paypal sticking their grubby hand in and grabbing almost 15% of this money. Quite how this benefits the buyer, I'm not quite sure, but many buyers seem to think it is a good idea.

If e-Bay really wanted to encourage 'free' postage, they should have free listing fees for all who offer such.

Although i only sell a few items im done selling on eBay , between the increased fees and the increasing NPB for me its not worth it.

The last item that was bid but not paid for has just sold on Amazon for £10 more than it went on eBay for .

  • I've never been busier, currently working 7 days a week 12 hours a day. I have not gone for free postage or the other things to get better ratings. It seems like the business is coming our way. The only test item we introduced the fast option and the "free and fast" thing appeared resulted in customer complaints that the item wasn't BOTH free and fast. Well done eBay :T you never cease to amaze me.

I've not done the 'free and fast' but switched to inclusive post on all items a few months ago, it seems to have spiked sales. We also had a busy weekend, busiest since early May. I think I'm noticing some slight changes on best match that seems to be helping.
