HSBC Contactless Card

It is a nonsense argument to say that because you need to check your account for fraud anyway, then we may as well open a few more security holes.
Thats the thing though, the bank don't call them security holes. The banks want to make more money and are giving you a new feature (whether you want it or not) and they are backing this up with "If your card is used fraudulently, then we'll immediately refund all fraudulent transactions" and they know the fraud will be a tiny fraction of the money they'll make.If it is supposed to be a secure place to store your cash, then surely it is fair enough to expect a card which contains the minimum security holes?
Then what you need is an Cash card, these can only be used at an ATM, they can't be used online or in stores. Thus, if lost or stolen, they are useless unless thief also has your PIN.0 -

I've explained this in another thread, but I'm happy to accept the risks for features that I want to use (cash, chip and pin), but not for those I don't want to use (contactless).0 -
Ha - well yes, they can call it what they want. It doesn't change what it is though.
No, what I need is the card I previously had, before my bank sent me a contactless one.

Oh please, get over it...You'd think the bank had mailed out all of your internet banking information. Although you probably don't use that in case your computer gets a keylogger...0 -

Yes I could do that - or I could change banks
What will you do when all the banks start issuing contactless debit cards?
Will you be going inside a branch and taking all your money out and keeping it under your mattress?Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

No, just because I am capable of
(a) Spotting the flaws in a new technology and
(b) Spotting the flaws in the logic of people who try to justify it
that doesn't mean I'm prone to doing stupid things like that.0 -

There's a flaw in the technology your using to write this on the forum, so I guess you shouldn't use it either.
Your Logic is also flawed in that regard, no matter how much security you have, someone will find a way to break it and use it to there advantage, be it Magstrip, C&P or contactless.
There is no 100% secure method of of using any of the payment systems we have today. Even if you use cash someone can steal it from you and use it.
At least if someone uses your card and you can prove it wasn't you, the bank will refund the money, where as if your cash is stolen tough you have lost it forever.Time is a path from the past to the future and back again. The present is the crossroads of both. :cool:0 -

Sorry my logic isn't flawed at all. Perhaps you have missed some of my posts? I've said that I am happy to take the risks involved for things that i actually want to use.
I mentioned that briefly earlier in this thread here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=61818539&postcount=43
and more thoroughly here: http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=61719261&postcount=20dr_adidas01 wrote: »There is no 100% secure method of of using any of the payment systems we have today. Even if you use cash someone can steal it from you and use it.

As you can see I am fully aware of this, but I want to use cash so I am happy to take the risk. I don't want to use contactless, therefore I don't want to be exposed to the risks, ie I don't want it on my card.0
