Sounds more like a ransomware type virus/malware than an actual hacking but I could be wrong - ie it'll bug you til you pay but will still bug you and do other stuff anyway. Whatever you do don't pay!

Do you have antivirus/malware software? What one? Have you opened a dodgy email or accidentally downloaded something? Does your computer allow you to do anything else?

What version of windows are you on?

Try booting into safe mode with networking which should stop the malware running at startup. You can then install and run MalwareBytes which will hopefully identify exactly what is there and will allow full removal steps to be figured out.

Restart the computer and immediately start tapping F8 repeatedly. If the Windows logo comes up you missed it and just reboot and try again.

Select advanced boot options, then select safe mode with networking. Log in as usual. Your display should say safe mode in the corners and your icons will be fat. You will still be able to access the internet. Hopefully the malware won't run, and you can go onto the internet and download Malwarebytes. Run that in safe mode and see if it identifies the problem.

Do you manage to actually get into safe mode first? Does the computer shut itself down and reboot?

Does the page demanding money allow you do do ANYTHING? Can you still get onto the internet or into your files?

if you can get safe mode with networking working, attach with cable to a router, download and run the trial of this

    or on another machine

write kav_rescue_10.iso using imgburn image file to disc function, boot from it, attach to router with cable, update and scan

    ---

    cheaper than norton, ie free
