First obvious objection might be that some crim conceals a handgun inside it.
Maybe the x-ray system @ security makes my theory redundant.
All I want is lovely lamb for Easter.

Savvy, have you managed to find any potatoes for 40-45p kg anywhere? We haven't had a roast for two weeks now as I refuse to buy the rubbish potatoes that are available in the supermarkets at hugely inflated prices at the moment. We usually get brought a sack when friends go back to Somerset but they didn't get any last time as apparently the sack was more mud than potato. I got a 25kg sack from Milk & More when they had a £5 off a £10 spend offer on a while back and that was at target price but I threw a good number of the spuds away as they were rotten right through. Never any whoopsied potatoes anywhere either. I am really struggling spud wise at the moment!
Thank you x
I grow my own potatoes - new and main crop and last year was a disaster. The main crop which were in storage were very poor and I had to throw most out. I'm thinking I won't even bother this year with main crop as blight is so prevalent around here.
I've got sharpes express and rocket chitting at the moment.
It's an old saying that potatoes should be planted Good Friday to tie in with the phases of the moon. But that's not going to happen this year. Too cold and wet:(To do is to be. Rousseau

TM, Blight aside, does growing your own main crop work out cheaper than buying at 40p ish per kg, do you know? If so is it significantly so? We have six children (so get through a lot of potatoes) and not a particularly large garden so it would have to really save money to be worth us doing it. I have often wondered about it but never been sure.
Thank you x
Thank you to everyone whose advice has helped me in my desperate quest to make ends meet. x
EDIT-Back on the quest, I've been away too long!0 -

Yes it always has worked out cheaper for me but if you have a bad year then you can lose your whole crop. If you haven't got the space then potatoes are probably not for you. They need a lot of space per plant.:(
