21% against

Worth noting that this was only on the 20% interest free loan question, which is the more controversial of the two measures.

I suspect polling on the less controversial "freeing up the market" aspect through guarantees which will cost the state very little, would poll even higher.

Each of these people who now use the scheme to buy will be directly responsible for pricing further people out in the years to come - well done peeps!

Fewer than 2,000 people filling in a survey to get 50p.

    Woop.

Proves the media, consumer groups, economists, politicans, business groups and journalists wrong. Infact, I'd go as far to say all these talking heads are completely irrelevant now, thanks to those people claiming their 50p.

The fact that nobody really knows the fine detail, not even the politicians, policy designers, CML etc., of how it is actually going to work or more importantly just how much it will cost.

I fail to see how anyone can give a considered positive response. It's easier to be sceptical because you know what your strating point is.

Yet they manage to accurately determine voting intentions of the UK to within a percent or so every time.

Yep, polling sure is useless. :rotfl:

Many commentators seem to be worried that it may just drive prices up without creating any building. Unusual thing is that they see this as a potentially bad thing.

The stated intention is to meet the aspirations of the strivers to actually get onto the housing ladder. If they can't actually afford it kind of misses the point if they just get saddled with unnecessary debt.

it makes no difference how many approve of the measure; it's the number that choose to buy an overprice new property that matter
