No it was a medical issue.0 -

No, the OP wrote her previous (manual) motobility car off, had an accident in her mums car (for which she is still paying her mum back), had her DLA reduced and finally had her driving licence revoked by DVLA for medical reasons.
A post made on as recently as 09 May 2012, suggests her test/assessment to get any licence back didn't go too well, citing that the examiner had to take control of her car to avoid an accident (and I presume that was an auto!)."Now to trolling as a concept. .... Personally, I've always found it a little sad that people choose to spend such a large proportion of their lives in this way but they do, and we have to deal with it." - MSE Forum Manager 6th July 20100 -

If you evey consider a ford focus automatic, I bought one once as I was told they are generally reliable. Unfortunately, the gear box packed up at 60,000 miles and cost me £700 to get a second one installed.0

Stay clear of old Mini Ones. I bought one last year. Gearbox was nothing but trouble!0

Just wondering what people thought??
The memsahib has had two automatic Minis, the first was a Cooper which she drove for 3 years and covered 60,000 miles in without any problems at all.
That was replaced in 2009 with an Auto Mini One that she again drove for three years and again did 60,000 miles in without any faults or problems.
Her cars are funded by work, she's a community Psychiatric nurse so they get a lot of town use. She's just swapped the second Mini for a similar sized Auto Citroen, not sure what model, because she fancied a change. It's OK but she wishes she'd had another Mini! One by one the penguins are slowly stealing my sanity.0 -
I have a mini cooper auto - it's a 2003 and I've had it about 3 years now, I'm happy with it, and have only had a couple of issues.
My only advice would be to be mindful that the road tax bracket is probably going to be higher than a manual. The tax on my cooper is expensive - £255 a year.0 -

Know several Fords with issues at this sort of age. I'd avoid an old ford auto.
Our wee Mini is an auto, can't say it's that reliable, keeps burning it's points out but the insurance is cheap and the gearbox has been spot on. Mind, it's not got any fancy gubbins on it hah hah
5t.What if there was no such thing as a rhetorical question?0
