Thanks sweetpeas for running this thread - it's amazing how motivational it is!

I have decided that I can only count stuff that I can move into savings and still stick to my regular budget. By the end of the month I should have an extra £300 in the savings and not be in overdraft :D

Still not quite made a whole ten pounds yet, but I know there are some bigger amounts coming. The effect on my behaviour is peculiar though - I walked home yesterday (£1.10 bus fare saved) thinking about this thread! I ***shhhhhhhhh*** even made sandwiches for work today (£1.55 lunch money saved) for the first time in ooooooooo about 10 years :rotfl:

Yet to be counted, but I spent yesterday evening clearing the photos off an old mobile phone that I've sold (£34 Fonebank plus an extra £3 from Quidco) and need to post it today - Freepost natch! :)

Hi wobblydeb, I'm glad you find the thread so inspiring :j It's strange how it makes you do things you wouldn't normally do. Try and save the £1.10 and £1.55 seperately so that over the month you can see how much you have saved :D

Yep, thank you, and thanks for all the good advice from others too!

I'm determined to save some money from my normal salary as well... Want to pay off the 2k I owe my friend first. (I know that financially, it's better than owing the bank, but it feels worse...)

Anyway, nothing yet today, but I have a £15 bid on eBay, and have finally resolved a non-payment dispute so sent the item for Second Chance Offer. Hopefully someone will grab it today...

anyone who has noticed that Sweet's posts - the background is in a different colour - for me it is blue, for others may show as green.

MSE is playing around with the site, and are trying to make all first posts a different background, making the OP (original poster) stand out when posting.

I have already fed back about this on the Wow factor thread, that some of us can see. It is putting some people off.
  • Yes sweet's posts are green for me.

Although I can see the reason for trying to make the OP stand out, it is quite off putting and the background colour actually makes the posts harder to read!

Would be better if perhaps the bar across the top with time and date of post or the left column with the OP's name was a different colour instead...

Thanks Monkeynut - I'm delighted that you set me straight on the Pinecone vouchers, I'll get that transferred over to paypal for next time. Now I very quickly need rescind my offer to buy hubby a latte from McDonalds and instead put them towards something more useful in Boots or Tesco :)

Thanks sweetpeas I am - I bank online and every time I save or make some money I am transferring it to my regular saver. At the end of the month I will transfer it to a different savings account with a better interest rate.

    £9.59 and counting :p

p.s. I actually like the shaded background for OP replies :o
I've got a plan so cunning you could put a tail on it and call it a weasel.
