firstly sorry if this is in the wrong place but has any of you had any dealings with CSL??
we received a letter off them regarding a debt of £78, and we wasn't really in a position to pay it back all at once so we came to an agreement with them....
However i really want to complain about CSL as there contact with me is verging on harrassment...
admittedly i have been late with a couple of payment's(the payment was due on a wednesday and i have paid on a friday), but they ring all day and every day, on my mobile, my partners mobile and then on the housephone relentlessly, they have even rang at a weekend(pretty late on) and they rang last night (after 8pm!)...and this is AFTER they have received the payment!
The last payment is £4.60 which isn't due until next Friday but they have rang today threatening to send it to county court....arrrgggghhh
Is there anyone i can complain to that monitors debt collectors??

Hi
You could complain to the OFT as this is definitely harrasment- but before you do that perhaps try sending one of these letters which might sort them out - http://forums.moneysavingexpert.com/showpost.php?p=11571485&postcount=4
You might also want to read OFT Debt Collection & letter Guidance - READ IF YOU ARE BEING HASSLEDA smile enriches those who receive without making poorer those who giveor "It costs nowt to be nice"0 -
I know this an old post but this company are a joke!
They wrote asking me to contact them as they had traced me, no details as to why. Obviously I didnt call them and then received another letter asking for £81 stating that their client is Southern Water. As far as I am aware I dont owe Southern Water anything!
I emailed them the do not acknowledge debt letter and received yet another letter stating they are sorry I havent been in touch please pay £81 immediately.
I then emailed and sent them do not acknowledge debt letter on Monday 1st August, by signed for delivery, asking them to prove it was my debt by sending copy bills, they received the letter Tuesday but only signed for as CSL not a person. I received a letter Saturday 6th thats dated 1st August although I personally believe it was sent AFTER they received my letter again demanding £81 and saying because our time scales are so tight please do not write!!!!
This has made me laugh so much! Do they really think we are all stupid and are going to call them up to be lied to and threatened!
If I really owe this debt, which I do not believe I do, it should not be an issue for them to send copy bills! Thats like me writing to someone I find in the phone book saying hey you owe me £100 and them paying it without any proof of a debt!
Capquest tried to pin a debt on me that is not mine and they lost in court and have to pay ME £140. So if CSL want to carry on then so be it, without proof I owe anything they will not receive 1p out of me!0 -

You seem to be a magnet for !!!!!! debt collectors!0 -
I had one dealing with them last month. The call handlers are SO SO SO SO rude and horrible. They argue, and shout - they don't hold a casual conversation. It would of been fine if my circumstances could have been discussed, but they just want to really, really cause grief and upset. I'd love to meet one of them in person, the people who work for them should be seriously ashamed of themselves.0

Tell me about it!
I have really common names, first and surname so seems that everything comes to me!
I dont have any problem at all paying £81 its hardly a big amount but want to see copy bills first as I dont believe I have anything outstanding - not to much to ask!0 -
Probably more in-depth than you want to go but I'll post this here cos I don't see it referred to at all these days. It concerns someone who was targeted by Lowell for a debt of £124 even though the alleged debt was not his. Despite his letters and phone calls they continued working through their standard threatograms. Although there may 'only' have been five letters sent, this was enough for the judge to be 'horrified' (his words). I've seen much worse cases than this.
There are some interesting points from the judge's judgement, including his agreement that compensation for this harassment should be in the range £1500 - £3000.
I liked the paragraph
'Of course this kind of conduct can be a criminal offence. I read the correspondence and I have no doubt that anyone reading that correspondence and knowing that X had no liability to HSBC and therefore to the defendant, would come to the view that what was occurring was harassment. Any reasonable person looking at this would come to that view.'

Just got off the phone with these cowboy collectors.
Months ago they accepted my payment offer, made in writing as that's the only way I'll correspond with them.
The accepted offer came with a bank giro slip so I made the first payment through that immediately but wrote asking for bank details so I could set up a SO.
Wrote and emailed a number of times (even have email read receipts) and no response, despite them sending me letters telling me my payment was late, asking for an i/e form to be filled in (no chance) and threatening 'the next step' action.
So I gave in and phoned them (withheld number from them) and the woman was the rudest and most arrogant I have ever had the misfortune to speak to. She didn't like it when I raised my voice (not shouted) and repeated that she should LISTEN TO ME.
Apparently I am supposed to know I should have phoned for bank details from them. She didn't seem to like me pointing out that responsible companies reply to letters and emails and got very shirty and said "We are responsible" and then she gave me the details, didn't want to discuss anything else and said "You have the information you phoned for" and I replied "Yep" as I hung up before she did. Oh and she didn't like the fact I said I have a contact number but not one I'm willing to let them have as I'll only communicate in writing :-)
Next snotty letter they send I'll just reply asking them to take me to court so we can get this sorted as I've been around long enough not to be treated like dirt by some low-life debt company.
Rant over, onwards and upwards, all debts being serviced now by S/O and all other companies perfectly happy.0 -
This is probably the worst debt collection company I've ever encountered. Frequent calls, mostly an autodialler. Had about 10 letters.
I just have fun now. Every time they call I hang up and ring them back and play some pertinent music down the phone.
They're usually on for about 2 minutes before they hang up.0 -

old post but oh well, couldnt help but comment, having worked for credit solutions myself for 2months, an can honestly say yeah i am ashamed, but i wasnt 1 of the bad 1s i got maself fired for giving people advice on how not 2 pay there debt, i didnt agree with how the approuch there customers, i have to agree they r the worst debt collection company to deal with, an 1 of the main reasons 4 that is the company doesnt train any of there collectors on the legal side of it, all the training u get is data protection, these collectors aint aware there breaking the law when there ringing u 10times a day,(by law they can only call once a day unless u ask them to call back) majority of staff there will still ring u even when u told them to remove your number an all contact to b in writing. an the 1s tht no how the law works couldnt give a rats !!! coz if they get u 2 pay thats more commission 4 them.
best advice when they call IGNORE IT OR HANG UP!! they wont listen to wot u gota say, an thats cumin from a previous employee!!0
