Have got a haircut booked tomorrow part of a pay £35 for £120 worth of hair and beauty treatments. This is a top salon in Birmingham - booked in with a leading stylist should cost I'm guessing around £40 per cut so is a good bargin. Rest of the voucher is valid until March next year so will book other cuts and manicure/massage with the rest. Im happy so far with Groupons:)

Hi, i bought my first voucher a few months ago for IPL in a SAlon in London, i went last month to have the test patch done and i can not wait to have my first treatment on the 8 December !!... i've got to say it is painful but it is the best thing ever.
If i can get any voucher for a spa or hairdressers before i go to London ( dont live there but they get the best deals , and with my 7 seccions i will be going there a lot ) i will buy more !

I bought two days ago a voucher for 1.50 with a value of 3.95 to eat a noodles deal at Wok to Walk in Brewer Street London. When I purchased the voucher the website clearly said that all 3 steps are included in the voucher (noodles/maet/sauce). Surprisingly when I got yesterday the voucher by email, it said now that step 2 (meat/chicken/prawns) is not included in the deal and you have to pay for it a suplmentary fee.

I called to the restaurant and they confirmed that groupon made mistake so they updated their website few hours after many people purchased vouchers.

It's not about adding another 1.50 for the meat, but a principle that if they advertise something, they can't just change it later and think that people will accept it after they paid for something else. I think that I will cancel this voucher on Monday.

  • Groupon is a scam. They sell vouchers, the businesses don't honour the vouchers then when you email Groupon they don't respond.

I bought a voucher for Woolton Picture House but when I tried to use it the cinema wouldn't honour the voucher. There is no small print with restrictions on the voucher. It clearly states the voucher can be used 7 days a week. It clearly states 'just choose a film, a friend and a date to go'. When I tried to see Harry Potter I was told I couldn't use the voucher to see that film and the voucher expires by the time a new film is on.
  • Groupon sold a £9 voucher last week to use at online wine, beer and spirit retailer Slurp (as mentioned in the MSE weekly newsletter). I checked out Slurp and thought I would get a selection of beers from around the world, so bought the voucher.

When I looked at the site last week, the minimum number of bottles for each beer was 6 - today (the day the voucher is valid from) they have changed the minimum to 24 bottles of each beer.

Very misleading of Groupon/Slurp to do this I feel. I don't want 24 bottles all of the same beer, I wanted to mix and match ie 3 different bottles at 6 of each (18) or 4 different beers at 6 of each (24).

Not surprising after what I had with my voucher. It seems that false advertising is the way to make clients buy, and then afterwards the terms and conditions are changed.

Do what I did today and ask for a full refund. Maybe if more people will cancel their vouchers, groupon will change their way.
  • Just before the Groupon voucher became active on Monday, the site slurp.co.uk increased its minimum purchase quantities and now claims to have no stock of the various items I wish to buy. I'm going to cancel request a refund on my voucher too.

I pointed this out to Slurp via Twitter and their response was "Please supply a direct email address so we may contact you formally about this totally unfounded and damaging allegation."

Slurp also said: on 23 Nov "Re @Groupon_UK offer, some beers currently only available in 24 bc low stock. Your voucher is valid for 3mths - they'll be back!" - Not true: 2 months later and beers are still only available at a minimum of 24 per type.

Slurp also said : "Due to huge qty of orders, some beers were briefly out of stock, however many are now back as singles in cases of 6." Also not true, almost all are still only in cases of 24 and have not been available in smaller quantities since the Groupon offer started.

Slurp also said "We can only offer beers as singles in case of 6 when we have stock in our warehouse. Any sold out lines will return!" - Again, see above.

  • I have now bought three deals from Groupon, one for a hair re-style, highlights and deep massage for £32 - I used this the day after I bought it and was delighted. I bought one yesterday for 3 dermabrations with a soothing facial and bio lift for £39, I used the first of them today and have the next two booked - absolutely fantastic value, and the third for an ultimate foot pamper with a Garra Rufa fish natural pedicure, plus a relaxing foot and hand massage and manicure for £15.

All of these I have bought for less than the normal price that I pay for my hair cutting and highlighting - terrific value.:j
