Ok so please tell me I am not the only one who has fallen foul to this scam. A couple of months ago got a phonecall from someone saying they were microsoft security. I logged into my system using a password they gave me and after 20 mins realised they were not microsoft and just sales team and a very aggressive one at that. Couple of months down the line I seem to have a thing called security tool on my system with the address of 195.54.171.149 telling me I have all of these viruses on my computer. I have ran my own scan with microsoft essentials which says my pc is safe but cannot get rid of security tool. Can anyone advise. I did look it up and found sites telling me how to get rid of it with malware but they werent very easy to understand and frankly I am now paranoid about taking their advice. I would rather get advice from a source I trust so please can anyone give me clear precise instructions on how to get rid and please not jibes as I already feel daft enough for falling for it.

Did you make a payment to 'Microsoft' by credit card? If so I suggest you cancel your card pronto and check any recent transactions.
Though it it was 2 months ago your card details have probably been sold on long ago.No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

Download MALWAREBYTES (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_malwarebytes_anti_malware/
Open malwarebytes and goto UPDATE and click 'check for updates'. After its updated goto SCANNER and click PERFORM QUICK SCAN then click SCAN
Remove everything thats found (needs to be ticked)
Post the COMPLETE log here AFTER youve deleted everything it finds
If anything was found then do the exact same but run a FULL scan
reboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
If you get a message that you cant write to the hosts file then Press the SHIFT key, and whilst holding it RIGHT CLICK and select RUN AS (admin):idea:0 -
excuse me for sounding dippy, but do I have to do all that even though I didnt run the program?
thanks0 -
If you want your system clean, you have to put in a little effort.
HJT will take seconds to download and run, MBAM may take a couple of hours to run. You can do something else while it's scanning. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -
