    Dear Large;37863624

Thank you for telling us your experience, sorry to hear your bad luck. :-))
Apart from the letter that will be sent, is there any cost that you need to pay for breaking their T&C regadng having more than 3 a/c ?.

The reason why I am asking becsause I am going to try luck using the current a/c link that other people in this forum have advised.

If you could tell us your experience, it will be great. I will be posting my experience as well when it is successful.

    Thank you

I think the best thing to do here is that try to prove it directly.
Try to set up your SO from another bank and see what happen.
Who want to Volunteer ... and let us now.

I do not bother at the moment, because I have set up my SO from one of my Vantage a/c as this is the easiest way for me at the moment. Also because I am currently hvae eSaving with them which I could easily move to my Vantage once the SO have been transfered to my Monthly Saver.

Mmmm...I spoke to a couple of people on the phone before opening mine and all said it had to come from a Lloyds Current account and that is how they had been "briefed".

One did go and speak to a senior colleage who apparanty suggested she said was aware of others asking similar questions and that those responsible for the T&C's had been informed and to expect a change to the effect it must come from a Lloyds Current account. Meanwhile if the T&C you receive with your account details in the mail don't specify that you would get 5% regardless of where SO originated.

    Fact or Fiction...??

Just one additonal query if I may - I know internal standing orders between LLoyds current accounts are instant - or at least same day but does the same apply for internal standing orders from a LLoyds current account to a savings account ?

Opened a Monthly Saver today with the first payment being paid by standing order (from Vantage account) tomorrow.

If I then wanted to change the date of the standing order to the 1st of the month would I be able to do this in time for the 1st November?

I appreciate that I can do this online, but how long does it take to be actioned, or is it instant?

My first SO went out today, date of next SO changed online this morning for payment on 1st November.

If you make the change tomorrow, after yours has gone out, there are plenty of working days left for the SO to go out on 1st November.

The Monthly Saver cannot be opened online, only by telephone or in branch.
  • I'd be a little wary about using the 1st. Don't know about Lloyds, but I have seen NatWest send payments early when the due date falls at the weekend. Other times it wouldn't matter, but when the timing of the payment is important, I'd err on the side of caution. Looks like first working day in January might not be until the 4th, so I'll probably go with the 5th or something.

Because it would be better to have £1500 in an account earning 5% and £1500 in an account earning 2.5%.

You would be getting an average rate of 3.75%.

Hmmm would that be the same if you had double? £6k in an account earning 3%...Probably not worth taking money out the bigger pot to put in in a smaller one, regardless of 2% more interest?

I think this account is great for those who have
    a) crap savings rates currently or;
    b) £250 pcm disposable income
