Bloomin heck...
What is this bickering all about...
As far as I can see it is a friendly bit of banter asking folk to to look after the little birds in the part of the world where we live...

Hi.Martins Doll.I've sent you a pm but thought I would post on here that my first post was not meant as a "bickering" type post.I was just attempting to bring to peoples attention the problems that hotlinked images may cause.I'd like this board to thrive & continue so for MSE admin to receive complaints does not sit well.Hope you understand where I was coming from and I'll leave the images with you.
Yes, I've received your PM...
Not too sure of this hotlinking stuff..
I've posting comps for a very long time, and don't have a clue as to what you mean...
I just do not want newbie posters being had a go at when they have posted good faith...................................... MSE MARTIN LEWIS ... :A ... THANK YOU.......................0 -
Hi Martins Doll.I'll hopefully make this my last post on this thread as it seems to getting a bit long.
Hotlinking is where you take an image from a web site and post it directly to here,as you and others have done.In the last month or so MSE admin have asked that we not to this for the reasons that I have highlighted.I feel we moderate ourselves on here quite well so I'll leave it with you if you wish the image to remain or if you want to alter the hosting of it.
In no way was I having a go at Christoph 1 and I'm sorry if you construed that I was.I merely pointed out how hotlinking was viewed & how this board was moderated.0 -

Oops, this seems to be my fault!
I took a couple of pictures I found from Google images to show other MSE'ers what the birds look like.
I thought that, once published on the web and freely available to all, it was OK to post them. I can't see that this is hotlinking.
If not, what about all of our avatars? Should we delete them?
I take the point about not taking big slices of the website that posts a competition (shame, I really miss misslinda's ones!).
Oscar Wilde was once accused of plagiarism; he replied that once something is in the public domain it belongs to everyone

Hi folks,
I just want to clarify our position on hotlinking, if we get complaints from the company hosting the picture we will obviously take the posts down, otherwise if they aren't causing a drain on their resources they are fine to be left up.
I hope that helps.
