Why are some of you people so nasty and sarcastic? The OP asked if anyone had had any experience with the company and asked it if was fair. There is NO need at all to be sarcastic and rude, even if you don't agree. I'm sick to death of seeing people bullied for asking a querstion. It's disgaceful and patheticGood Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Most internet forums and chat rooms or any other webpage where you get people together are like this. I think the internet brings out the worse in people. Personally I think if your sensentive enough to let something like this bother you then you shouldn't go on open forums.0 -

I've re-read the replies and can't see why you have chosen this particular thread to have a rant.
I certainly do agree that the basic issue of your post can be applied to a number of other threads on here, but mainly the responses to THIS one have been fairly civil.
Most of them DON'T agree with the OP - but that doesn't mean they're rude, sarcastic and bullying.0 -
I chose this thread to say something because this happened to be a thread I had read through. I don't read all of them. I don't have time to go and quote the parts that come across as rude and sarcastic unfortunately but it struck me that they were.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Oh and for the record, I had read the thread because I too had a voucher that expired without my realising it (2 weeks past date when I noticed it). I spoke to a lovely lady at RLD who listened to how the voucher expiry date had passed without my booking it (because we have had a HELL of a year!) and then extended the voucher by 3 months because of the extenuating circumstances without any problems at all. She was lovely and very understanding.Good Enough Club member number 27(2) AND I got me a stalkee!

Hi,
I finally resolved my initial claim.
Some of the responses to my initial question on here have been completely unreasonable, especially the idiot who compared my case with someone buying a pack of sausages from tesco and not eating them before expiry. The difference here is that unlike Tesco, which has provided a tangible product, no (or very little) loss has been incurred by Red letter Days if I don't take an experience before a voucher expires.
Admitedly, I was somewhat careless, but the lack of clarity re. expiry (see points in my letter below); the unorthodoxed period of validity (7 months rather than 6 months or a year) and the lack of initial flexibility when calling RLD as soon as I realised my vouchers had expired suggest to me that this company depends heavily on revenues from unused vouchers, which is unfair.
To conclude, I was finally able to take up my two experiences (only after contacting their consumer action group though as the call center staff wouldn't budge), although one of them will have to be rearranged as it was cancelled due to poor whether (hopefully this will be straight forward). Anyone who wants is free to copy the following letter:
WITHOUT PREJUDICE
Dear Ms Klein,
I am very disappointed to hear that you are unwilling to extend or refund my expired vouchers.
It would be understandable if extending the vouchers would result in Red Letter Days incurring additional costs, but the statement as per the terms and conditions that “the participation date can be any up until31 December of the calendar year following the year of purchase” implies that this is not the case and supports my belief that the Red Letter Days’ product is designed so as to maximise the proportion of customers who do not redeem their vouchers, thus maximising your company’s profits. My belief is further supported by, among other factors, the failure to include any reference to an expiry date in the accompanying “What you need to know” leaflet.
I consequently believe that this process represents an imbalance in the favour of Red Letter Days as per the Unfair Terms in Consumer Contracts Regulations 1999. Should you continue to refuse to refund the amount paid or at a minimum extend the validity of the vouchers I will initiate County Court proceedings against Red Letter Days Ltd to recover the value of these vouchers in addition to all costs. Please respond within 14 days.
Yours faithfully,
XXX

Their terms are designed to confuse. I have had the pleasure of two gifts from them, both I had problems with. 1st no event dates went up on the website and secondly after being assured by phone I could carry the booking past the date as long as I validated my voucher online, they cancelled the booking. I also had a colleague who had problems with them as well. You are better going direct, cheaper and less hassle. Buy an off the shelf card/voucher from Smiths and go direct to the supplier, be it track day, hotel, or spa. All Red Letter supply is a fancy presentation envelope. :mad:0
