pop up adverts and system running slow or crashing

hi
i went wireless last week and sometimes my sytem all locks up or runs slow.( dont know if this anything to do with wireless just seems to have happened since i changed over.) also i keep getting loads of pop up adverts they are very annoying. i get them when i come onto this site offering me loans.they seem to be linked to whatever i click on.i ran my adaware se last night i have pop up blocker switched on and also ran my avg free.
any advice please.

albatross- do i just download these and run them? do you think i have a virus? it doesnt show up on avg scan.why have i suddenly started getting all these ads popping up

yes, download, update, and run a scan.

do you mean you have avg antivirus, or antispyware installed?

if you have antivirus installed, then the PC might be a bit sluggish with avast as well, so you could try the others first, see if they pickup anything.

ive got avg antivirus. when you have downloaded and run these scans and they tell you what they hav efound dont they then ask you to pay to register so problem can be solved.

i ran avg anti spyware and it found and querentined over 100 threats. when i went on pc today i am still getting these adverts.it says something about medie traffic and a little box comes up on bottom of screen saying ads served by context tool

thanks i will do that now. i am getting really woried because every time pc has been switched on and finished loading an avg anti spyware alert comes up saying malware threat detected. and when i take the nesessary action it says to reboot to make sure action has taken full effect and then when i reboot i get same avg warning
