Disposable E-mail addresses - Slam the Spam

What is it?

A neat web-tool offers free email addresses which exist for just 15 minutes. This is dead useful if you need to provide another website with an email address, but are worried about being bombarded with mountains of spam.

How do i do it?

Go to www.guerrillamail.com, and click "Get temporary email". You are then told an address (e.g. [EMAIL="abcdef@guerrillamail.net"]abcdef@guerrillamail.net[/EMAIL]), which will work as any normal email for 15 minutes, before expiring. It is possible to get extra time if necessary, just click "Give me 15 more minutes".

If you receive any emails, you are shown a snippet of it - if you then click 'Show', you can see the whole thing, and reply to whoever sent it if you need to.

Why would I need this?

While it is always useful to have a spare, free Gmail or Hotmail account for signing up to websites who send you a lot of junk, this is an even more extreme tactic. For those concerned about being sent truckloads of spam by a website, or don't want to register any personal details at all with them, this is ideal.

Any drawbacks?

It's possible that if sites see a lot of email addresses with guerillamail domains, they may blacklist them, making them redundant for that particular site. However, that's not happened yet, and as these are totally free, there's nothing lost for trying.

I would just like to add i have benn using KasMail.com for a few years and thats bascially the same but you can choose when the email is void

Personally I use a unique address at my domain for each site/company I sign up with (eg moneysavingexpert@mydomain.co.uk) which I then add to my official forwarding (to my root address) list on my hosting company's site. It is then a permanent email address which if I ever get spam to I can simply remove it from the list and tells me which company gave my email address away. Using this method I've got about 300 email addresses forwarding to my main one and I get zero spam from them.

Spamgourmet (http://www.spamgourmet.com/) is my favourite - you set up an account with a username, and can create new email addresses on the fly in the following format:

anything.x.username@spamgourmet.com

You just replace "anything" with, well, anything you like, and "x" with the number of emails that you would like to receive to that specific address.

The first x emails are forwarded to your normal email address (which only Spamgourmet knows), after that they get gobbled up before they reach you!

Pookmail is also a good one - send an email to anything@pookmail.com, go to http://www.pookmail.com/ and type "anything", where emails remain for 24 hours.

Spamhole (http://www.spamhole.com/) and 10 Minute Mail (http://10minutemail.com/) offer similar services.

this would actually mean more spam not by the genuine user but by a spammer who could in effect be less traceable, could also be use by people who want to be vindictive to other people especially when email addresses are never checked for authentication as anyone can make up a fictitious address just to get a new email address then bombard people with rubbish and then no trace of activities.

so dont they allow group messages, even one spam message is enough so yes it could happen very easily indeed.

But if it's too late and you're already getting spam then what is the easiest or most effective way of getting rid of it

I've been using https://www.sneakemail.com for years - same idea except it gives you disposable addresses which last as long as you want - you just log in and cancel them if they get spammed.
