At the bottom of the forum board page there is the list of all on-line users, it also says that the most people viewing was on 7 april at 8.06 am...why?
If I screw my eyes up tight I can just about see where you're coming from

Martin's Email Tips starts going out on a Wednesday (I got mine today at 4.36) and it takes some 14 hours which means that a lot of people get their email overnight and come onto the forums following the links from the email first thing on a Thursday morning
edited to add this proud quote from Martin in the email
250,000 THANK YOUS! An hour ago, the quarter of a millionth person signed up to this free e-mail. Staggering! The site's only 26 month's old and cost £100. It shows consumer revenge is here to stay. Huge thanks to all who've recommended it. Pls keep supporting it, by telling everyone to join this free email

OK I might be on then, Little Miss Mac Just gone, Little Mr Mac leaves in 35 mins, SWMBO left some time ago, so surf time. Used to do the ironing, so Martin has something to answer for. But I can believe that many are on at that time.
Unless of course they were checking on
a) Word association
b) Nelski's thread.

It might be because those 2800 or so users wanted to log-in at that point on that morning. I logged in on that morning as it happens. I don't have to justify why.
The list of users online comes in handy if you want to send a private message to someone - you'll know whether they'll see it immediately or not.
Having that at the bottom of the page is a good guide as to how successful Martin is.0 -
how spooky - as a matter of interest when did the forum start ?i'm living in a parallel universe0

The site started 26 months ago and you can read about the beginnings here.
The number of "members" at this moment of typing is 42,612, this is people who are signed up to use the forums.
As Martin posted in this weeks Email the number of people subcribing to the email has now topped 250,000. This is one amazing number and Martin and the team are to be congratulated on such an achievement. :T
As you don't need to be a registered member to view the forums there are always many more non-members viewing than members. As I type tonight there are 290 members and 1127 guests on the site.
In fact the last time the record was broken I was away but the record breaking always (better change that to usually before someone corrects me) occurs on a Thursday morning when the greatest number of those 250,000 people open their email accounts and read Martin's email. They then come onto the forum to check out the latest discussion or chase the newest bargain
By the same token it is probably quite a small percentage of members who actually post on the forums.0 -
Hiya
The reason for that day being the record was two fold
i. It was a good tip sent out
ii. The tip send didnt break. It's normally sent at 2 or 3 pm. Yet often stops sending sometime in the morning (it takes about 15 hours to send overall) and has to be manually kickstarted in the morning.
So on a normal tip day
We send at 3 - by midnight the first 150,000 have got it, some time after that it breaks and is restarted about 9 the next morning, and finishes by 2 or 3.
On that day. It was sent at 5pm, didnt break down and was finished by around 8am. So everyone had their email by 9pm on that day and most hadn't seen it the day before - hence the number!Martin Lewis, Money Saving Expert.
