No. It means that they will automatically debit your account after the first 3 issues for up to 12 months if you don't cancel after the trial. You are not obliged to continue subscribing past the first 3 issues but there will be a deadline that you must cancel the subscription by. They make you agree the 12 month direct debit in the hope that you forget to cancel the subscription! Afterall, they couldn't advertise it as a trial if it wasn't a trial.

I think you are wrong there because normally trials that can be cancelled will say something like this:

"I have completed the Direct Debit instruction below in the understanding that I can cancel my subscription within 2 weeks of receiving my 3rd issue and no further money will be taken from my account. The first 3 issues will be mine to keep whatever I decide."

But those that require obligation will state that you have to keep a minimum 12months subscription and the offer is only for the first 3 issues being £1.

"Direct Debit purchases have to be bought individually and minimum subscription term is 12 months."

Look at the words highlighted in bold above or do you have a different interpretation for it?
  • I'm still waiting but every time I call Hachete blame the mag group, then mag group blame hachette! I'm really losing my patience with them now and will be sending a very strongly worded letter to the mag group and Hachette!

My cheque arrived a few days ago and is now sitting back in the bank :)

If you have no joy with hachete then use the direct debit guarantee with your bank and get a refund that way, its your right.
Stopped smoking Jan 2007 after 23 years!
    Cigarettes NOT smoked = 240,945
    Smoke free days = 11 Years :T
Cash saved so far = £125,45,11
  • My cheque arrived today. The only thing is I rejected the dd the day it was presented as it was not for a £1. There was no explanation with the cheque.

The straighteners offer has probably finished now - it was over a month ago that it was posted I think.
