Which model of Lynksys is it? I may have the latest firmware for it, it's a very quick and simple procedure to update it and it "should" solve the problem.

Have a read at this Lnksys Forum and see what you think.

The WAG54GS is the same family of routers as yours so it will use the same firmware. Hope this helps a little.

Might be worth mentioning that some of the Amilo range of fuji laptops don't support anything than WEP encryption. Luckily they have a PCMCIA slot, so you can get a Linksys card to slot in that does support WPA. I bought mine from ebay for about £12 when I had this same problem. You can ask here for support with your notebook\laptop http://support.fujitsu-siemens.com/forum/index.php?sid=ed7167ed1f9624893195875aac218812 though they aren't very forthcoming half the time. It's more a user helping user experience when dealing with feujitsu siemens.

    Thanks for that
but this one doesnt have a pcmcia slot
I tried to join the fujitsu forum 48 hours ago and still havent got my verification email. I think their moderator fell asleep or went on holiday

I went back to Staples where i bought it and they pointed something out that might work but it didnt

If I knew then what I know now I'd have probably not bought a fujitsu-Seimens

  • right click on your wireless network icon, view available wireless networks, change advanced settings, wireless networks, highlight your ssid, properties, connection. Make sure "connect when this network is in range" is ticked. Click OK, advanced, make sure Access point (Infrastrucure) networks only is selected, and automatically connect to non-preferred networks is unticked

http://www.netstumbler.com/downloads/ check for interference on same channel.

In IE, click tools, internet options, connections, make sure "never dial a connection" is checked, click on lan settings, and make sure everything is unticked.
Ever get the feeling you are wasting your time?
