You don't have to buy calpol though? You can claim all that stuff on the minor ailment scheme NHS thingy? I took Keira into Tesco's last time and as long as they see the kid they prescribe something, so she had a cold and cough and she got calpol and something else aswell, for free, you just fill in a form. And its maybe the generic brand they give you but its really all 1 and the same unless you are allergic to certain thingys.
  • Hmm I don't know anything about that, is it for everyone with a kid? Or certain benefits?

I'm going to look into it thank you

I don't know who decides where it applies but it seems to vary a lot. We didn't have it in our old village but in our new one we do but only if we are registered with the local surgery.

Kindof, in Scotland children receive free prescriptions, so the pharmacist is prescribing the medicine. You won't get branded (calpol, nurofen etc) just generic stuff. It's called the minor ailments service. If as an adult you get free prescriptions then they can also prescribe you stuff for free. If you pay they can still prescribe things but you have to pay. It was set up to take some pressure off GP's, a parent can go to the pharmacy when their lo has a cold and get medicine. Course they will send you to see a GP if need be.

Generic is good for us, calpol gives DS2 the runs. lol!

And also, I am not keen on Ugg boots. Mainly because of the ones that wear them and scuff their feet. And the ones where the sole has twisted round and they are walking on the fabric and eurgh gross.

See I didn't even check it Susan I just waltzed into Tescos and said blah blah minor ailment scheme. You have got to be registered at a GP's in that city/town though I think. It's a bit pot luck. PCTS are squiffy and weird.

Like that plastic surgeon thing, they sent me a letter originally saying bmi under 27, OR massive weight loss (5 stone or more) OR infections caused by loose skin. I qualified under points 2 and 3 yet at the actual meeting, he told me they just go by BMI now, and I was like yeah but I have big boobs and big leg muscles, that must make me weigh about 5 stones more.

Keira is turning into such a little poser, I swear she looks like Suri Cruise aswell. Always thought so mind.

I'm really . There are thousands of lazy b's all over this sh!!!! country claiming DLA for dodgy bad backs, alcoholism and drug addiction, and because the government are trying to save money they're telling me my 13 year old son who can't speak and needs his mum to wipe his backside, brush his teeth, shower him & dress him, "doesn't need significantly more help than any other 13 year old".

    That's crap that

To all of you ladies considering Uggs, wearing Crocs, and me who all summer lived in flip flops. We are ruining our feet.

I agree with that. I wear flip flops on holiday and in the garden in the summer, but other than that I wear properly fitting shoes or boots and I've never had a problem with my feet.

I'm so anal, I even bought riding wellies rather than bog standard wellies as they fit my legs and feet better :o

My baby girl has just had a dairylea dunker. She gave the little crackers to the dog and used the dairylea as a face pack. :(

Could be worse - Charlotte lets the dogs have a lick of her ice lolly, then puts it back in her mouth - blergh!

i have the music channels on .. am i the only one that doesn't really get the hype about lady gaga????

Charlotte loves her and the Black Eyed Peas.

....then I speak to hubby. His accountant, who I had an appointment with at 4pm called to cancel  so now I am stuck and don't know what to do about registering as self-employed or setting up a business and I only have 1 more day before I need to be working for myself and the stoopid effing accountant doesn't want to see me and I am just as stressed as I was before and sat here in tears yet again.

Good advice given so far. If you ring the people on the newly self employed help line (number on HMRC site) they might be able to help. They are very helpful and friendly.

Does anyone know how i can cook sausages in the oven without them drying out?

I normally put them on a baking tray and cover it in foil, then take the foil off for the last five minutes to let them brown.

Buttons, sorry but I'm giggling at the thought of you sliding down the hill :o Hope you are ok xx

I don't think the free calpol is for everyone. We can't get it here. Sometimes the doctors will do a prescription if your child is ill and you've had an appointment, but they won't do it just for minor illnesses when you haven't been seen by them.

Lovely pic of Keira. She looks very grown up.

Someone on holiday was convinced Charlotte was the spitting image of Brad Pitt and Angelina Jolies daughter.
Here I go again on my own....
