play.com is good at return items

  • If you buy an item and everything works fine that's great, it's when you try to return an item that may be faulty that you find out what a company is really like.

And truthman returns, his last crusade(from what i remember) was apple and his latest 1 is play.com or is it the idea that companies require you to call 0844 numbers to return stuff
  • If you sent Play an e-mail within the 7 days allowed under the Distance Selling Regulations, you have your evidence that you complied with the Regs, so you should get a refund even if the goods are not faulty. If they are, you should get a refund for that reason. Either way you should get your money back.

Virgin media charge 15p/Minute for 0844, is it worth hang on a line to waste £5 to get my £7 quid.

    Number on Play.com website is 0845 8001020 > http://www.play.com/Help.html?page=retn
The geo number for that from the "saynoto0870" site is;-
    0845 800 1020 > 028 9092 1724

  • Yes if you can find a regular no to call that is cheaper especially if you have only a mobile.

The DSR allows 7 working days btw. Just to clarify.

However it should be noted that play.com are not in the UK, however from what i could find when i had trouble with them, they do adhere to the DSR.

Also be noted they refund £1.40 only of return postage on faulty items. If you want the rest you have to email them and complain, then scan and send POP (even though the value of the postage is on the parcels they receive!).

A minor inconvenience and while it probably earns them extra £ each year........its not a honest business practice IMO as many people may think they werent entitled to all their postage back on faulty/damaged items.

  • I've never had any problems with returning items to play? I just use the form, got an email, sent back the item as requested, refund was in my bank within 10 days.

I don't buy clothes from there anymore as there sizes are very odd.

to call 0844 to return my hard earnings, that's really shame. Anyway i called once and spend 15 minutes no answer. if i know definetly they would answer i can wait until get an answer.

There is no honest in the business nowadays.

    Truthman please re-read post #15.

You are told there that it is not a 0844 number that you should be ringing.

My council now uses 0845 nos instead of a regular no so I can't use my mobile inclusive minutes.

If I had a landline from BT I believe at certains times depending on the package 0845 is free.

The problem is that you can ring these companies and wait 15 mins or longer before you get a human to speak to.

Even 5p per min can add up if you have a long wait.

Why should it cost you money to tell them (especially if the number they use get's them a percentage of the call as some nos do ) your brand new purchase is faulty ?

And if they do get a percentage of the call it's in their interest not to answer quickly.

I think this whole system is flawed, it should be regular nos to call them and the waiting time should be a max of say 5 mins.
