Will wait impatiently for the result of Phizzimums experiment!
me too! I'm starving! I shouldn't keep checking back here, it only reminds me of foodweaving through the chaos...0 -

We all like the weetabix cake very much- the carrot cake is popular too- and they find it filling, so i am hopeful of it lasting longer than the weetabix cake.:D
cant resist this sorry BOB- but dont the tealeaves get stuck between your teeth ?:rotfl::rotfl:
On a serious note tho...thats a very good idea.
Ive experimented today and had breakfast and lunch almost from the plan
Wheat Bisks
Pea soup (slice of bread, 2 clementines and a mini tub of rice)
came home and scoffed down a slice of weetabix cake AND slice of carrot cake:(

Thank you for your advice - hmmm - feeling a little nervous about looking at freezer contents - anchovies and blackberries anyone!
I found grub on a grant today in charity shop and I know it is probably too 'luxurious' for this experiment but I thought there might be something in there that could be useful or adapted - will let you know.
Totally OT - but your due date is my birthday Weezl!!!

Anyone had any luck in creating a cereal bar within the budget yet?
Would it be on the lines of a flapjack Weezl?:)LBM March 2011 (what on earth took me so long?)overdraft (1) -2950 overdraft (2) -246.00total CC £12,661 :eek:loan £5000DFD 2016:eek::eek: (cant come soon enough)0 -

I want to try and embrace this philosphy but my pantry/freezer is full of odd things - shall I eat them up (I have no idea what to do with half of it!) asnd then start from scratch with you ladies or do you think it's best to jump right in a la fly lady (!) and ignore scary things in freezer.
I am asamed to say I spend about 150 pw on food/toiletries/general uneccesary things from supermarket so you can see I need a kick up the proverbial. I followerd the 50p a day thread with wonder - and I find posters on here so inspiring - too many too list - but people like Ceridwen et al - you all seem to be so super organised - I want to be like it too.
So - am ready to test/try/offer opinion/get under peoples feet or simply read iof I can't be coped with!!
I xx
Try out anything and everything you fancy when you fancy it would be my advice - and I'm sure everyone else's as well:).

(you've not peeked through my computer and seen the state of my house then?:)) (piles of paperwork to do, loads of housework to do, loads of reference books to read.....need I go on?)0 -

ONION FLAN UPDATE
Verdict on it cold - yep...still tasty...still think the amount of cheese specified was correct.
So - overall = would make it again - but upping the amount of pastry by 25%. However - with the proviso of only if I had time for it - because of the fact that its simply too much faff for me to fit into a busy life.0 -
reporting back on a few things...
The sloppy pork and apple thingy I turned into a giant pancake (well, half of the mix, cos I was hoping this would do bob, shirley et al 2 meals...)
DH 's verdict: very nice, meaty, appley, filling, just a bit wet! Would eat it again. 4-5 times a month.
Felt the whole meal didn't need anything else
Wow! I'm surprised:D But then he did have to live on 50p a day so this is luxury!
Also, I don't have a blood clot :j:j:j:j

sweetcorn soup (I know I've not posted this before, it was a possible way of making the lunches more filling after the feedback on the meal planner
)
3 dessertspoons flour
320 g sweetcorn
750 ml water
stock cube
ground black pepper.
use a little of the water to mix with the flour until you have a runny but smooth paste
put in sauce pan on medium heat, and add sweetcorn, stock cube and add water gently, stirring constantly to stop lumps forming. After soup has simmered for approx 6-7 mins, blitz with a stick blender until mostly smooth with teeny little bits of sweetcorn in. serves 4 for 11.8p per serving. :money:
