Reboot and keep pressing F8 to get into SAFE MODE WITH NETWORKING
Try running malwarebytes from there
If no good RIGHT CLICK the malwarebytes file and RENAME it to something random (neifkjerg.exe) and run that
UPDATE it and QUICK scan (For now):idea:0 -
Thanks so much. It worked this time and has scanned and says 17 objects found which are all in red type and say rogue.personal security. gives me options at bottom which say REMOVE SELECTED, IGNORE, SAVE LOGFILE AND MAIN MENU. Do i choose remove selected?? I tried to print screen and paste on here but it doesnt allow me to.......
Edit; one of the items in red says Malware.Trace:smileyhea0 -
REMOVE SELECTED
When the logfile comes up RIGHT CLICK and SELECT ALL then RIGHT CLICK and COPY
Then onto here and RIGHT CLICK and PASTE the entire logfile:idea:0 -

Asks if I want to restart to complete removal process. Assuming so but not touching any buttons until I check with you first!!:smileyhea0 -

Yes, definitely reboot, and see if it will now run in normal mode.
Then continue as RIK said earlierreboot
Download HIJACK THIS (Make sure you click 'DOWNLOAD LATEST VERSION')
http://www.filehippo.com/download_hijackthis/
Click MAIN MENU then DO A SYSTEM SCAN AND SAVE A LOGFILE(Takes seconds) then post the log so we can see whats running
(do NOT do anything else with Hijack but scan and post the FULL log)
You will also be better doing a full MalwareBytes scan, but that could take a few hours.0 -
OK thanks so much everyone. Sorry, I should have re-read RIK's thread from before as didnt realise it had further instructions. I was in such a tiz I didnt realise. Sorry and thanks again. x:smileyhea0

The HijackThis log looks clean, so that is good
A couple of comments though:
There are remnants of McAfee in there, which was presumably a 60 day trial from Dell. Download the removal tool to clean it up.
Second, you are running AVG 8, so you should update to 9, or put something else on there.
You should also run the full MalwareBytes scan in normal mode just to be sure, and post the log when it's done.
I think you can relax and get yourself a cuppa now - it looks like you are back on track.0 -
Sunshine12 wrote: »I was using my computer about 5 minutes ago and it came up on screen saying that my computer was affected by Trojans etc. It then started uploading something called "personal security" despite me not agreeing to it. It then came up listing 42 virus threats. I have AVG ant virus which says computer running fine. I tried to remove the personal security thing but it wont let me. It started running again after I rebooted so I stopped it but as I cant remove the program I dont know if my machine was already infected or whether its this program thats the problem. Can anyone help me?? I havent backed up any of my files and about to try and use system restore but as Im clueless about computers Im worried I do something wrong......
The same happened to me last sunday . i couldnt do ANYTHING , it wouldnt let me get into my add/remove programmes to try and remove it . A neighbour came and messed about with my p.c for ages . Then it let me run spybot and i removed a load of things . It still isnt running 100% my p.c keep turning it self off any ideas what that could be ???0 -
Thank you so much everyone, particularly davb and RIK. Ill do as you state above and post what comes up (might wait until tomorrow before I do it, think I might get myself in a tizzy again!) Was in a right panic earlier!!! Cheers again. Am gobsmacked at how helpful everyone has been. Really appreciate it.:smileyhea0
