Hello!
Finally got a quote back from one of the heating companies, and they have quoted £4650.00 exc vat:
Works to include:
Supply new Gloworm Boiler with built in time clock on external wall
Supply and fit new flue
Supply and fit all pipework and condensate pipe to drain
Supply and fit new thermostat
Supply and fit new gas supply from meter to kitchen (to boiler and cooker)
Supply and fit radiators
Supply and fit thermo radiator valves
Supply and fit 500 x 1100 chrome bath towel radiator
Run all pipework in screed floor (channels to be chased by others)

Is this a little on the pricey side?...my builder said it should only be around £2.5k- £3k tops? It is a 2 bed bungalow! Though i know it is a total new installation? That is my first quote back, so have currently nothing to compare it with!....but just seemed abit high for a small bungalow!....

Hope its not from BG! Seem a little pricey for the boiler supplied but chasing the pipes in the floor could knock the price up. Get another couple of quotes.

i have just had ch installed in a house with no heating 3 bedrooms...i had 6 quotes ranging from 2900-4500.
House had never had gas in before , so gas pipes also had too be run.

i paid 3200 inclusive for a larger better boiler.

I agree with the builders estimate...

The quote doesn't include the chasing of the channels in the floor! We are doing that! (hiring a diamond cutter for the chasing!)..as the heating company said they "could do it", but will cost me less if I do it myself, or get our builder to make the channels!..so chasing is not included in that quote!...

Thanks for letting me know! And you have a house!...being a bungalow, I would've thought there is less work, as there is not another floor to add rads etc. And there is already an existing gas pipe there from before!
I think I will wait for another to come in, and call around for new quotes!!

Oh..and it wasn't BG, it was from a local independent company!

i forgot ..check if there are any grants from council...We never got one cause they said they were skint ,even though house was below tolarable standard and we were entitled too one.

We did however get a 500 quid grant from eage? as it was a new gas supply...

3 bed house totaly new install, new gas supply 2 storeys and also a shop and storage area...good price cause am tight and scottish.

betacom 30c installed not the best boiler but does the job.Could have put a worcester in but lower hw output.

Then it certainly a little steep.

Not an expert by any means, but I read a lot of these posts on here, and I don't think you could really expect to get all that for 2.5k. You don't say how many radiators etc you're getting, but if you just add up a ball-park of how much all your materials will cost then you'll have an idea of the level you simply won't be able to get below.

Our install was all copper piping
We did have quotes for plastic carp ..i personaly do not like it.it is also cheaper.

I would be hoping for just under 3k inclusive.

best bet is contact council/ also do a search for grants.(there are more in england than scotland)

Also go to the gas safety site and call local gas plumbers. Some may even give you a ball park figure over the phone for the average installation they have done in the past if you ask(this will give you an idea of there price's)

They are full aware of the average install price just the same as they are aware that BG are the most expensive in the game.

Yep, agree that £2.5k is too low!..so I am in my mind thinking around the £3k mark! The boiler costs £730 (quick google), and need 5 rads plus towel heater....i know most of the costs is labour...anyhow, hopefully will get another quote in for less than £4950!...well, £5692 when you add the vat!!
